just a question for everyone i belive that qb is the weak link on this team am i alone on that one? second it has been a long time since we drafted a qb with the first pick not saying that if you do it's a sure fire but you have a better chance.you might find a diamond in the rough like a tom brady but those come once a blue moon.i just feel we need to draft a qb with the first pick that is the most important position on the team and that is why they get paid the big bucks atleast the good ones..... :dolphins:

The weakest link on this team is the OFFENSIVE LINE. Behind a great offensive line Gus Frerotte would be a much better QB. Behind a great offensive line a rookie QB might have a chance be another Big Ben. This is basic stuff. It all begins with the OL.

If you think about it, when we had Marino, we had no running game, thus the opposing team pretty much knew we were throwing and if we ran, we weren't going to bruise the the defense with big runs. So they could cover up our WRs, and not need to stack the line. We now have two good runningbacks that can keep defenses honest, so if we get a QB that can establish a passing threat and our WRs and TE can help establish that passing threat, we are a lot better as a team. Passing game helps the running game and vice versa, and running and passing game helps our defense stay fresh instead of being on the field for more then 60% of the game.

Is water wet?

Now what on earth makes you think that? This isn't David Carr we're talking about... this is a 12 year veteran. He ain't going to magically get better at 35.

The offensive line was... adequate. Not where it should be... but certainly not bad enough to make a difference in Gus's talent level.

Gus is not the future of the Dolphins, he is just the present caretaker of the position until the future arrives.

The Dolphins O-line is not adequate for this system. Get real. A better offensive line would make Gus relatively better. 2 + 2 = 4 all day long.

If you think offensive line is the number one concern then i dont know what to tell you. We had the 28th rated quarterback in the league, one of the worst pass defenses, and still managed to win 9 games.

Think if we had a middle of the pack secondary, and like the 15h rated quarterback. The first game against NE would DEFINTLY have been a win and most likely the first Buffalo game, Atlanta game and maybe even 1 or 2 others.

YES QB is the number one need with secondary in a close second.

Yes, QB is the one singular position of greatest need on this team. We need some help in the secondary and on the offensive line, but both of those are coming along and can be tweaked in FA and middle rounds of the draft.

QB is our weak link since the OL isn't top-notch yet, but it's serviceable. Plus, linemen come and go but a QB should be constant. Secondary we can improve bit by bit using lower round picks and stopgap veterans. If we get a shot at a young possible franchise QB we have to take it.

QB is our biggest need, but i dont want to take a mediocre at best QB in the first round when we can get a good safety, corner, or OL. i can deal with gus for another year if it means we can shore up these other positions. gus played pretty good towards the end of the year.

Yep, QB is our weak link.....man we have not had much since Dan Marino retired.
:boohoo:

Not a doubt in my mind QB was the weak link.

It is no coincidence that when the QB play got better we started winning.

It wasn't the running game or the offensive line that played better. When the QB played better we started winning.

End of story.

It wasn't the O-line that cause Frerotte to miss wide open WR'S down the field when there was no defender pressuring Frerotte.

But once he started actually hitting his WR'S surprise surprise we won.

There were alot of question marks last year with this team. But the greatest was THE QB PLAY.

Had Frerotte played just average the whole season the Phins would have been in the Playoffs.

QB is definitely the number one priority. The other glaring need is secondary help but that's second to the quarterback. We have others as well, like a left tackle, but they pale in comparison.
