This 6th round pick is getting more attention than any other in this years draft IMO. Not just because of the youtube video, but because of the school he came from as well as his size.

I really like to have a killer blocking and a short yardage "sure thing" like Bettis or Olstott. Unfortunately I keep hearing that hes not done well in camp. The presence of Shlesinger doesnt help his cause.

What do you guys think, does he have a chance? Do we have 2 fulbacks on the roster? I hope we find a way to keep him and use him.

I haven't heard anything about him doing poorly in camp. How do you make a decision on someone his size without even seeing him in pads?

IMO he ends up making the team.

I have felt he was the reach of this draft. Practice squad.

Hard to say. I don't think he really deserved to be drafted but we did draft him over other players for a reason. It all depends if he shows anything because if he doesn't impress in pads its more of luxury to carry an extra fullback when you have other players you have more need of. I truly thought there were much better FB prospects in the draft. The odds are that if he does not play well, he could easily be put on the practice squad without being taken.

If anything he can be our second FB and third TE, but he will defitnetly make the roster.

He's almost certainly going to make the roster. Corey Schlesinger doesnt hurt Mauia's chances, either.

Most teams running the Norv Turner branch of the Air Coryell offense carry two fullbacks. Last time I looked at all their rosters, only the Chiefs did not.

Schlesinger is a short term option. Fullbacks tend to have good longevity for such high contact positions, but he's 35. He's there as a short-term option and to groom Mauia.

Him "not doing well" in camp is a little misleading. He's a lead blocker. He's not drafted to be a big bruising runner or a receiving outlet like a Mike Alstott or Patrick Pass. He's a lead blocker. An undersized Guard lined up in the backfield. What, exactly, is he going to be showing with no pads and limited contact?

he will probly be on the practice squad for a couple years until Cory is gone

He is a wrecking ball with no pads, lets wait until TC contact to say how well he is or is not doing.

I have to agree that his time to shine will be with pads on. CK mentioned he looked slugish in camp. I also heard the same thing from other places. I guess its still too early to worry. Although the camp and start of cuts isnt too far off. Im pulling for him, Id like to see him lead block and once in a while pound it up the middle.

I think he will make the team, But saying that now is really only a guess. Lets wait until the contact starts

really depends on if cam wants two FB's or just one. he also needs to show he has what it takes.

His performance without pads is completely irrelevant. He is a blocking and plowing FB! They drafted him as a wrecking ball. Not being a speedster added to being a rookie, how could ANYone expect him to do anything BUT struggle with all the speed-demons running around without pads? Is he supposed to lower his shoulder into JT? He'll make the team as a situational player... i.e. the William "Fridge" Perry tactic of using him at the goal line to run in or block for a score.

If anything he can be our second FB and third TE, but he will defitnetly make the roster.

I doubt that he makes the squad as a TE. Cam has shown a tendency to use tall and fast TE's. Thats the opposite of Mauia.
