Is Reshad Jones a locker room cancer?

Maybe i'm reading into this way too much but there is definitely a particular player that the vets are subliminally and not-so-subliminally targeting during press conferences.

Here's what we know for sure:

• Several players were upset that Reshad Jones called Benny Sapp out after the Pats game. Sapp ended up getting cut and a lot of the players felt that he didn't deserve it.
• Nolan Carroll said this about Reshad Jones referring to the Andre Johnson TD - “When something happens like that, you just sit back and think, ‘How do you have a lapse like that, when you go through it every day in practice?’” Carroll said.
• Kendall Langford also touched on the Johnston TD saying 'We let them get away with some things that we practiced on all week'
• Jason Taylor and Yeremiah Bell have both made mention of younger players not focusing enough during practices and allowing the same mistakes during games.

I don't know... maybe i'm looking into things too much. But the reality is - personnel wise the only changes on our Defense this year have been Reshad Jones @ Safety and Kevin Burnett at ILB. I'm starting to think that all these comments are being directed at Jones specifically.

i think the kid just wasnt ready yet, even though i think he has alot of talent if sparano saw something and thought the kid wasnt ready he should have kept him on the bench. Clemons should be starting the way reshad has been playing. Fix it sparano , your the damn head coach, act like it.

also let me add that i dont think reshad is a locker room cancer, i think this is just natural for a losing team to blow up like this, the head coach is suppose to step in and fix the problem and calm everyone down.

with everyone mentioning the bad practice, it does make you wonder. Clemons has hands of stone but he doesn't make mental errors, sounds like it's time to sit Jones for awhile.

I believe there's an unwritten rule in the NFL that states, any player that gives up a 99 yard touchdown to a slow receiver like Wes Welker is automatically cut on the spot. Better luck next time Benny Sapp...


In all seriousness, it wasn't just one play that got Sapp cut. He was terrible the entire game vs. the Pats. Did you see his 'effort' trying to tackle a tight end after making the catch? He never even attempted to wrap up, he just bounced off and then stood there like he was surprised the guy didn't go down.

Shoot your hands and bring your hips... fundamentals of tackling. These guys know that, they're professionals.


Reshad Jones is just about the only guy that can tackle on Miami's defense through 2 weeks. I don't understand the veterans being upset at the younger guys, especially when the coaches have them playing out of position.... what's the veteran's excuse?

The entire defense sucks, Taylor included. When your 2 safetys lead the team in tackles , no matter how you color it, it means your defense suks, our does. Nothing but a bunch of loud mouthed friggin thugs that forgot how to play the game of football.

Regarding Sapp, very much indeed. I charted only the first half so far, but he was responsible for 4 completions where he either got caught out of position or simply didn't match up well against the Pats speed. The first one is on him, the second I would blame Nolan more... why put yourself at disavantage through scheme?

Regarding Jones... it's nice he can tackle, but if he's constantly out of position it's not necessarily the coaches' fault. We'd have to know the defensive scheme that was called before assigning blame. Overall I don't think it's wrong players call each other out, what kills me is that they go to the press for it - as little as they have, even.
