Seems like a lot of parallels between former Texans QB David Carr.

1. High expectations of 1st Round QB.
2. Expansion Team (Dolphins are certainly playing like an expansion team).
3. Tough kid that takes a tremendous number of hits & sacks & some how continues to get up.
4. Tried to be the leader of the team, just doesn't seem the rest of the team really follows him.
5. Put up decent numbers; but not a lot of wins. Stats get bumped mostly in "Garbage Time".
6. Can get some yardage and key first downs, but takes hits doing so.
7. Stares down receivers.
8. Not particularly accurate.
9. Marginal Deep Ball.
10. Does not read defenses particularly well.
11. Paid too much money, eventually cut, goes to other teams as a very serviceable backup an spot starter.
12. Will probably play better with his next team with less pressure/expectations and the next team will utilize strengths.
13. Will probably have a 10 year NFL career.

Likeable kid. REALLY WANT him to be the MAN. Evidence & Performance seems to indicate otherwise. Regardless, the Dolphins should be after a QB in 2017.
Your thoughts....? :ponder:

Yep...and I hope he has a younger brother fixing to come into the league.

you mean beaten down by sheer physical abuse? possibly

I can see we needed another thread on Tannehill

Ozzy rules!!

Tannehill's accuracy is actually quite good. He's got lots of issues, accuracy, in general, is not one of them.

No. This is the same guy that failed twice to win starting QB job at A&M and when he finally inherited the job wasn't a winner there. People are looking for excuses - the fact is that he is just not a QB.

Yet another "not accurate" claim despite facts showing is probably his best quality....outside of his ability to take a beating and keep getting up.

How many ways do people have to be shown indisputable facts before they cease this ignorant narrative....

You forgot the most important thing. Carr was shell-shocked. He broke mentally. Tannehill isn't and hasn't. He's actually shown a lot of toughness that way.

I think Tanny is close to breaking mentally if he hasnt already. And I don't mean he is giving up or quitting, I think he is so used to taking big hits and being pressured that he is starting to feel rushed and pressured even when he has a little time (not very often). He has thrown way more picks this year as well, he is trying to make something happen with no confidence in his receivers, line, RB's, and prob himself.

Actually no... If anything it's the opposite. He still thinks that the line will block long enough for the plays to develope and that the wrs will get open. He is wrong about both of those things.

Tannehill has the talent of a top ten type quarterback when it comes to arm strength, accuracy, intelligence, and toughness. These traits led me to believe he could be the quarterback we all have hoped for since Marino and is why I held out as long as I did as one of his supporters. But Tannehill has bottom ten pocket presence. Not bottom ten of the quarterbacks playing right now, but bottom ten of any quarterback I have ever seen play! It is the fatal flaw that can not be overcome and has now convinced me beyond a doubt that Tannehill needs to be replaced at the end of the season.

So, to answer the question, I would say Tannehill is more like Rob Johnson than David Carr in that they both are or were the worst I have ever seen manipulating the pocket, but Tannehill is physically way tougher than Johnson ever was. Johnson was hurt all of the time.

So you mean he intentionally delivers the ball to other teams defenders? He is a traitor!!!!

Not INTELIGENCE, I would bet that the time he takes to make a decision has something to do with the lack of it. Also his overall awareness shows he is closer to stupid that to an inteligent QB. By the way he NEVER takes advantage of a free play. When he sees something he can take advantage on the other team defense he takes so long changing the play that by the time the play is run defense has already adjusted. He is athletic and very durable but his brain is not helping him!

Tannehill's intelligence is really not the problem. The problem has to do with how fast he plays. It has nothing to do with whether or not he his smart enough.
