Im starting to think Satele may be on his way out of here altogether.

Berger is clearly a depth move and if they still draft a C or sign another FA that is a starting caliber guy, I just dont see how it would be a good sign for Satele.

Basically it comes down to a couple possibilities.....

A) The Phins had no genuine interest in Jason Brown and are simply trying to give the impression of interest in a C to set up a possible draft day trade all while comfortable with Satele.

OR B) The Phins interest in Brown was legit only they simply wouldnt be interested in overpaying. They figure if they cant get a good deal on him(or they never got the chance at all because St.Louis threw too much cash at him right away) they will use one of their 3 picks in rounds 1 and 2 on one of those prospects at C.

If B is true I simply dont see Satele being around.

I read in the one of the papers Satele could be used in a Trade, similiar to daniels last year. Dont remember where, but I did read it like a week or two ago.

Satele is not the only one out. I think other players will go as well, You can't expect Ernest Wilford to be here next year. Reggie Torbor is over pated and sucked last year and Charlie Anderson light turned on late in the season, but was beaten out by Roth and was nothing spectacular. Paul Soliai suspended twice and Im sorry Jason Allen your fired.......

I think it may be something in between. I think the Brown speculation was to motivate Satele. They did ask him to bulk up more, which I doubt they would have done if they wanted to get rid of him. If brown came cheap enough however, they would have to jump on him. If they did want to get rid of him, I think that the news of his torn labrum would make them at least have to think twice about dumping him, if not give him the benefit of the doubt.

I think that they really wanted Brown but the thing is I think they still would of kept Satale beacuse both can play C/G and we do not know how healthy Smiley will be and having Satale and Brown battle for that C spot and move the loser to the LG position.

Another thing is say D.Thomas comes back from that injury and is not what we expected they would of had Brown or Satale that could of moved into that RG positon. I just see it not being wise to get rid of a player that knows the system already and showed that he will play with a injury for this team and he is a very young player to boot.

I'm hoping Satele can put on 15-20 lbs. as retain his quickness. I thought he did pretty good against NE in the first game, and at least deserves a chance. If nothing else we should get a first day pick out of him.

I'd like us to take Alex Mack, Center, from Cal with the 25th pick. It would solve most of our O-line problems.

Yes, but probably not as the starting center. I believe he will be a backup for added depth.

The questions surrounding Satele were brought up because of sub -par play while injured....understandable. The increased speculation was due in most part to a non-answered media question directed at Tony Sparano concerning our desire to seek help at the C position. Brown being the highest rated C available automatically made himself interesting conversation. Increased interest in free agents from Baltimore (like Brown, Scott and Lewis) helped to drive market value up and make it more difficult for the Ravens to retain their players, and more expensive for teams like NY to sign them....good for us. Fueling the C position interest also creates a buzz concerning our draft desires and may help cause targeted players to fall to us, while influencing teams like Baltimore to trade up to beat us to a specific center in the first round.
I still believe Satele is our franchise C (see "I'm going on record" thread) as I have stated earlier and these moves remind me of textbook Parcells puppeteering. Well taught Bill, well played Tony, thanks.

With the injuries the Fns had on the O-Line last season, I would be very surprised if the FO started getting rid of starters. Smiley is very prone to injury so the Fins will need a decent Guard to replace Smiley if that happens.

Can see the Fins drafting two O-Linemen in the first three rounds, while keeping Satele in the process.

Agreed. Bill knows how to yank your chain.

Satele can play guard and would be a geat, athletic pulling guard. I think he stays. Can't get enough good OL as Sparano says.

giving up on a player going into his 3rd season is stupid. and a lot of or o-line ''problems'' would be alleviated with a healthy smiley and donald thomas
