What do you guys think about Solai starting? And I don't mean for the rest of this year. Do you guys think he can be the NT of the future? Most of the people here seem to doubt that he can be. I don’t think you could say one way or the other yet considering he hasn't played full games on a consistent basis, but the next 6 games will definitely let us know. I don't think the Buffalo or NE game will be good barometers since Buffalo has a severely decimated O-line and NE is a more of a passing team. Now I'm not saying they wont matter I just think the Tennessee, Jacksonville, Houston, and Steelers game will be more telling. Especially the Titans and Jags with Johnson and MJD. I have a lot of faith in Sporano & Co to make sure we do what is necessary to get through this season, but if this doesn’t work out...I hope we get Wilfork in the offseason!!!
Either way, by the end of the season we will know know way or the other.

he has showed flashes of dominance, but from a consistency standpoint, not so much. I do not see him being the starting NT on this team, or any team. Very good backup, and situational player.

I think we draft at least 1 NT next year, possibly 2. One in round 1-3, another in round 6-7. That does not mean that Solai is gone. I think he has come a long way from a year ago, but I would bet the FO would want a big stud to anchor the line.

I think at least one NT is drafted and possibly in the 1st even with our needs at WR. If it is 1st round then the writing is on the wall they consider Solai the second stringer and at worst a role player. Is Solai being given a live audition to be the future at NT? Draft one and let Solai further develop and let the best talent win. I am not ready to completely discard him as a starter.

Soliai needs to get his head out of his rear and start being the dominant player he's capable of being. This is a huge opportunity for him to prove that he is starter material. Come on Paul, show us what you got!!!!

Heres an interesting draft scenario/offseason

1st- Terrence Cody, NT
2nd- Sergio Kindle, OLB/DE
3rd- Micah Johnson, ILB

Sign a WR like Braylon Edwards (I'd be thrilled with him, Miami would be very attracting to him and the way things are heading in New York...)
Sign a decent ILB, many options
Resign JT to another one year contract
Resign Ronnie
Eat contract of porter

If its uncapped, this is alll possible. Our defense would be freakinn sick.

AMAZING DLINE and backups-
Langford...Cody...Starks
Merling.....Soliai...McDaniels

Amazing LB-
Kindle...Johnson...Crowder/someone we sign...Wake

Good Secondary-
Sean Smith, Gibril Wilson, Chris Clemons, Vontae Davis

Imagine the pass rush?!?!!? omg. Starks,Wake,Kindle,Langford,Cody.

Id love a draft like that.

We need two strong nose tackles if we're going to continue to play 3-4 - it's asking too much to have one starter playing all the snaps - especially when your home games are in florida. Even if Solai is one (and he's got a long way to go) they'll need another

The other thing is that it's very difficult to get a good one in the draft who can be good within a couple of years. If you look around the league the good nose tackles have all got 5-10 years NFL experience. That may mean trying to get one in free agency. Or they could bring Ferguson back but it would have to be on much reduced money.

Other option is just to play 4-3. Then you badly need linebackers but they might be easier to get

remember henne use to be his college qb, that would be a nice

Terrence Cody for 1st and 2nd downs, soliai on 3rd down. Sick.
Merling, Starks, McDaniels, and langford is an amazing rotation. (maybe that prospect we picked up will work out good and you can add him in?)

That is an amazing Dline. And we are only a 1st rounder away from that scenario.

Get sergio Kindle in the 2nd and you have Wake and Kindle rushing the passer. Thats a scary OLB corps if u add in JT and JP.

Then Micah Johnson in the 3rd... That is a very young front 7 with amaing depth and just great.

That improves our already improving secondary.. maybe we eat JP's contract and sign someone like Dqwell Jackson.

front 7-

...............Wake.....Johnson......Dqwell Jackson......Kindle...............

.....................Langford.....Terrence Cody.....Starks........................

Backups-

...................JT.....Ayodele....4th rounder....Torbor....................

.......................McDaniels....Soliai....Merling.............................

I totally agree with you "Doc Phibes" am thinking If Ferg comes back draft one. If not they must trade or go FA. But to run a 4/3 would mean a total over hall on that line, you would need more speed on the outside of that line "DE" wise and "ILB" then you are even farther in the hole. Nope the 3/4 is perfect for them and you are right, gotta have two serviceable tanks to run it well. So say Ferg comes back do you think Paul Soliai is there future starter or do you draft high? Say Ferg doesn't come back same question and who might that starting FA "NT" be if not Paul Soliai?

solia is a good back up that's about it . fergie is done ! so we should be looking for a quality nose tackle through the draft and a lower level free agent if we have free agency this year. on the whole receiver situation. we need a guy who doesn't have the dropsies !

I sure would like to hope he is. He won't be if continues to play like he did in the New England game though, and he is battling and injury so it will key for him to perform well for us the rest of the season. I still think we should look for a NT via the draft or even Free Agency pending Jason Ferguson's status.

You also have to remember that Ferg was a sixth round pick and Jay Ratliff was a seventh rounder. Parcells likes to take these late round picks and "career backups" and turn them into dominant NTs. Soliai has massive amounts of talent and has begun to show it this season. No, he didn't impress in the NE game, but he was also hurt early in the game and stayed in the whole time because his team needed him.

Braylon Edwards has soap hands...He is another Ted Ginn with his drops.

I would go after Boldin, Donnie Avery, or Ochocinco
