Before some of you fly off the handle and yell and stomp, hear me out. There were 2 plays today that really bothered me with Ted, one in particular. 3rd Quarter, 3rd and 12. Pennington hits Ginn on the sideline, and instead of turning it back inside, dropping his shoulder, and trying to get the 1st down, he scampers straight out of bounds. When I was watching the game live, I was actually slightly embarrassed. Now if any of you noticed, when he went to the sidelines, Joey Porter was all over him. He was yelling at him, and motioning with his hand to turn the ball back inside. That was the 1st time.

Then, late in the game, he caught the same type of ball along the left sideline, and again ran out of bounds. This one is even worse. You are trying to put the Chargers away, and you help them by stopping the clock because you dont want to take a hit? Im sorry, but this lack of heart from Ginn is something I personally can't get past right now. Im watching Ronnie Brown give 2 nd and 3rd effort on a surgically repaired knee. Im watching Ricky Williams launch himself at a safety to try and make a block for Ronnie. Im watching Joey Porter and Matt Roth play their *** off. Im watching Greg Camarillo scrap for every yard he gets.

Its inexcusable in the game of football to lack heart, and quite frankly, IMO, Ted Ginn is quickly showing hes not willing to take hits to make plays and try and help the team win. That has nothing to do with talent, speed, hands or whatever. Either you want it or you dont, and he clearly wants no part of contact. Outside of that, the game was a joy to watch.

I think you bring up valid points. I found myself thinking the same thing watching both those plays. It is unlikely Ginn and tough will ever be used in the same sentence unless the words "is not" are in between. Except for the sentence I just wrote. :)

I also had the thought "I wonder if he lacks common sense when it comes to football and he just doesn't understand the situation." The positive is he appears to be improving on his route running.

No.

You aren't inthe locker room.

You don't know a single player personally.

Many of them have given props to "ginn' and said they like him.

ANything else... thats just about the same as people saying to is going to nuke dallas cause he slightly turned his body at a 10 degree angle.

Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Plaxico Burress, these guys have maade careers (HOF ones at that) doing this.

Its the nature of the position to avoid getting hit. To call Ginn out on it is pointless. I remember an interview with Az Zahir hakim when he was here the year Ginn got drafted. they asked him what advice he'd give to ginn and he said "Don't take shots. Accept the fact that some people are going to be mad at you for going down or stepping out of bounds."

Is it cowardly? Sure. But it's also the reason why guys like Holt, Bruce, and Harrison are still playing in the league today.

I agree! When I saw him run out of bounds I couldn't believe it. Just falling forward and getting tackled would have gotten him the first. He has all the tools to be a very good wide receiver, but the lack of tanacity and heart is keeping him from developing into a great receiver. It also seems to be keeping him from kick returns and punt returns. He is just to scary. Hopefully he finds some heart cuz he could change the dynamics of our team by just getting more physical.

Eh we'll never know. He's had two solid games back to back so as long as he sticks with doing that, I think ****'ll be fine

how about the punt he did not catch that rolled for another 20 yards. Luckily SD had a penalty and they had to re-punt

Yeah. I really though the second one when he got out of bounds and stopped the clock was really bone-head....however, he also had just managed to get us First Down.

He's still developing and this was one of his better games... I'll give him some extra post-Cam time before I make up my mind about him....

As far as getting used to the hits..nothing better than letting him RETURN since he is the best returner we have!

no but he is quickly losing the respect of the football wizards at finheaven.com

He didn't catch it because they kicked away from him and he had o chase it down. It wouldn't have made much sense to try to make that catch on the run when he wouldn't have gone anywhere anyways.

Hakim is also out of a job. This is football, getting hit is part of your job. If you cant take a hit, you shouldnt be playing this sport. We have no tolerance for softies.

No Im not in the locker room, and neither are you. As I stated in my initial post, Porter was incensed with him and called him out as he came off the field. Im sure hes not the only player noticing him shying away from contact. Im not suggesting he take on tacklers every time he has the ball. Thats not realistic. But when you have a chance to get a first down and convert a 3rd down, and you choose to run out of bounds, team mates notice that bs.

Its one thing to be smart and go down when its clear you arent going to get any farther, or wont make a 1st down. Ginn was a few yards away from the sticks and chose to go out of bounds. If it was 1st or even 2nd down, it doesnt bother me as much. But its freakin 3rd down and you need to try and move the sticks. I knew when I made this post numerous Ginn supporters would spin it, but theres no spinning it. Im not referring to you, I actually agree with your post.

It was an outstanding punt and I didn't tape the game so I can't check to make sure, but at the time I thought this was another play that showed Ginn has a general lack of awareness when on the field. He could have saved 15-20 yards by going after it and running directly out of bounds if need be. What I recall is there wasn't a Charger within about 20 yards when he just let it roll.

little by little he is becoming one of those players bp and co. do not like. i hope they trade for roy williams. i see camarillo and bess playing a lot better then him overall. i see ginn out there an times he looks lost i do not get it he and his family are very talented.
