Is The FO Playing The Fool?

Can it be that Ross and Ireland are playing the fool? That in fact, they are, behind closed doors, lusting (as they should/better) for the current season to go bust so as to establish that coveted first round selection for Luck. That they display disappointed before the cameras and then, in secret, are high-fiving each other after every defeat.

I mean so far the Dolphins are in easy reach of Luck so why not Suck For Luck, as the slogan says. Wouldn't that be the only option for true positive change for our squad? Other player/personnel (Saprano/Henne to name the obvious) are of course history regardless of whether we are in the one position in next years draft or not. Ross and Ireland might not be the brightest guys on the planet, but they can't be so stupid so as to not realize that Luck is worth sacrificing a season over. Come on.

So, again, is the FO (Ross/Ireland) playing the fool? What's your response?

a) that phrase 'suck for luck' is pathetic. Just because something rhymes doesn't make it sound good. It is a 3-year old phrase and makes Dolfans using that phrase look stupid and immature.

b) no team is mailing the season in. There is more at stake than just drafting a QB. The Dolphins have the responsibility to play their best they can just for the season ticket holder sakes, then you have advertisers and sponsors. Too much for many of you because most of you only invest a bag of potato chips and a soda on game day. I bet some of you have never seen SunLife Stadium from the inside (and not just through the TV).
So yeah, I understand if the potato chip crowd doesn't care.
And if you think that any team would mail it in then please re-run the tape from the Dolphins win over Baltimore to prevent an 0-16 season. While it may only be a few season ago some of you may not remember as some of you may be too young still.

c) The Dolphins are not even near within easy reach for the first draft spot. They played 4 games with 12 more games to go. A couple of victories here and there and you can replace the phrase 'suck for luck' with 'we suck our thumbs'.

We might be throwing the season, I sure hope so! I think we have competition with the colts though, they might have sat peyton down so they can get lucky! Hard to believe but think about it, they would be set at QB for the next 20 years!

Just to clarify: I understand the the Suck For Luck is just a slogan. I didn't created such a simple rhyme. I am only presenting it. It's just an observation -- questions and not exclusively my personal viewpoint. All I am curious about is how you guys see this whole thing (our unfolding season) from the angle I have posted. I just want to be clear. Good posts. Good read.

I don't think they are playing. They have all proved to be incompetent with every decision made during the off season.

thats exactly whats up. ross was done with sparano. he couldnt get his coach last year, and the lockout looming bought sparano an extra year. and either he turned the thing around and henne developed and both the team and QB showed promise OR he blows it up after the season. knowing they werent ready to compete for a super bowl anyways, the only information Ross needed to learn was can sparano recover and coach this team. clearly the answer is no

the standing order to Ireland clearly was limit spending, no big contracts, no acquisitions that only benefit the team for the short term.

The owner/GM did not give Sparano all the tools to be a winner still the D was supposed to at least show up

i wouldnt say they are literally high-fiving. but i do in fact think that ireland is safe. and i think that Ross and Ireland are already thinking about what coach/player to go after.

As a business owner, Ross would be really dumb to want to lose revenue. The more Miami loses, the more money Ross is going to lose.

At the end of the day, thats mostly all the owner or owners care about, is how much money their making. At this rate, home games are going to be a joke, the fan base is beyond disgusted and is not going to spend money on this team anymore.

This season is already over and done with for the most part. If Ross does not fire Tony AND Jeff right after the season is over, there is nobody else to blame but him for the future years of losing that will come along with Ireland in charge.

Just helping out Ross with the Tax Man. Even if we do draft Luck (and I'm convinced we will screw that up too) why would he come here to play for a team that can't afford to win? Maybe we can hire Mike Brown away from the Bungles to run the show. What a JOKE this team has become. Never in 44 years have i seen it so hopeless.
