Sunday we saw alot of new things from this team that worked. We saw the " Wildcat " formantion, Hill started in place of Crocker, Lehan replaced Goodman, Ricky was our 3rd down back and Randy Starks replaced Soliai as the back up DT.

There something very few are mentioning were was Matt Roth ? After watching video of the game it was Charlie Anderson who played more instead of Roth, Roth played sparingly and was mainly a Blitzing LB in the 3-4 stance. While Anderson line up at DE and OLB and played in nickel and dime packages. I think the Roth experiment is over and we will be saying alot more of Charlie Anderson. Anderson appears to be healthy and ready to start. Considering how effective our defense was I dont see Pasaquoloni changing anyone.

Maybe they amended the experiment....put him in to pass rush late in game to get after it.....maybe they just didnt like the matchup...after the way they preformed they should keep with what they did this week. Goes with the old saying

IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT.....i like Roth and how open he has been to change and how hard he is working but if his spot on a WINNING football team is a specialist pass rusher then i think he will accept it

I was one of those that thought he would be cut from the team by the 1st cutday. But he has gone on to prove that he has alot of heart and some skill. If you remember correctly they started the Roth experiment right around the time Anderson went down. And to tell you the truth Roth did pretty good, no you didnt see many sacks, but I saw him break alot of plays up and alot of times it was his push that caused another Dolphin Defender to get the Sack.

Anderson is back so he immediately starts again. No doubt here as he right now is a better OLB then Roth is. But Roth will definately be his backup and see the field alot on pass plays. I hope he keeps improving as Anderson is a decent OLB, but Roth has the potential to be a little better. IMO of course. Maybe by next offseason when he has lost some weight and had a full year of backup duty to finish learning the ins and outs.

can Roth play ILB, I really think he would make a great ILB.

Well I dont remember seeing who lined u but according to NFL gamebook Roth was the starter. Someone know for sure please chime in.

Matt Roth started and played in the base defense on 1st and 2nd down and he played well. Charlie Anderson came in on 3rd and passing downs as a part of the nickel and dime packages and also played well. As a whole the defense played well. This is not the end of Matt Roth by any means just a way of getting more speed from the outside pass rush.

Maybe it was due to the game plan and they felt Anderson added something to the mix that Roth doesn't against NE. Let's not go over board on every little decision the coaching staff does.

I watched for roth he was in on some good plays. he may not be a long term starter.. yet.. but a roleplayer? he certainly can provide a useful role.

You are right in that Roth had only a situational role, but the reason is that none of our linebackers can cover anyone. Anderson has much better drop back skills than Roth for sure and arguably than JP, AA, and CC. Who would you replace if you needed/decided that LB pass coverage was killing you? Not that he is great or anything but maybe better than what we got on the team.

Im not dogging Roth, Im actually glad the guy found a role and he was in on some good plays. I just wish he had a sack or two more. I like the rotation the were using on nickle & dime with Charlie. I think Charlie will be your pass protection LB while Roth will be a bull rush type of LB. As a whole the defense was very good sunday.
