With all the talk last year about how Superbowl 40 was fixed and refs were paid off blah blah blah. I'm starting to believe it. How on earth do the SAINTS go from never winning more than 1 or 2 playoff games ever to going to the NFC championship. i mean, only in the NFC woudl a 10-6 team get a bye. I guess im just not belieiving the feel good story of the year for the NFL.

I think that somewhere the nfl is rigging all this so that they win.

YOU WATCH

Yes they're 10-6 but since they had the #2 seed wrapped up they benched their starters against Carolina in the season finale for 3 and a half quarters. So 10-6 is a bit misleading.

Anyway...This rigged argument is horrible.

Or like how the Patriots won the Super Bowl after 9/11

It would probably help your case to present some solid evidence. Then you could maybe entertain the idea.

well...Mario Williams #1

....Bush #2?

If you want a case for conspiracy, look no further then the draft.

you people dont see it. the draft debacle and how the Texans passed on BUSH. They were paid off by the nfl or the saints so that the most electrifying player in college could come rejuvenate that city. ITS SO OBVIOUS

The most the league could do (and I'm not saying they are doing it) is instruct the officials to give breaks to teams they favor. That could help teams like the 2006 Saints or the 2001 Patriots win, but it wouldn't be that huge a difference-maker. It's not going to make the Lions into a Super Bowl champion, much less a playoff team. It might make an 8-8 team just good enough to make the playoffs or a wild card team that also has a good bit of luck a Super Bowl champion. Even if they were doing this, I can't imagine it would stay secret over a 5+ year period.

My guess is that the biggest real bias comes in scheduling. You can't call what the league did for the Giants in 2005 anything other than giving them a hand up. You also can't tell me that the league is above playing favorites in handing out byes and determining who gets terrible away-home-away scheduling. I don't think that's exactly what could be called fixing things, though.

Okay whatever man. Keep making up conspiracy theories.

And the dolphins took Daunte instead of Brees for the same reason.

The schedule is largely determined algorithmically by computers, but the guy who adds the "human touch" - if it's still the same guy from a year or two ago - is an admitted Dolphins fan.

And the Dolphins....

[mod] Don't circumvent the profanity filter. [/mod]

Passed on Brees, and now look where he is at.....Saban Sucks thanks you

I dont buy into the conspiracy theories.

But the draft was fishy, and it still stinks.
