Last year, when our team made stupid mistakes and lost their focus we blamed Wanny and his staff. Today's game was the most undisciplined and unfocused team that I have ever seen. Would you put the blame on Saban and his staff in this case?

I'm just asking because many people blamed Wanny for everything last year so it was easy to blame Wanny for those mistakes. Since there are so many that are in love and in awe of Saban, I wonder if they'll blame him in this case.

If this was Saban's second year, yes I would blame him. But the fact that this team still has a lot of Wanny's trash on it coupled with the fact that Nick has had limited time to work with the team on the new system they're running gives him a pass at least for the time being, IMO.

There is plaenty of blame to go around for the penalties and the lack of focus coming off of a bye week. I think Saban preaches agressive play and disicpline and most of our boys are only acknowledging the agressive play. Saban and the staff have to make cleaning up these penalties a top priority and yes they do share the blame. Offsides penalties, that's a lack of focus and is unacceptable.

the blame starts with the coaching staff but by no means does it end there the players play the game and those stupid penalty's were on the players...come on that was the worst half of football i've seen...18 f'ing yellow flags thats a joke

Of course it's not the coaches or players. It must be the refs and the league. We all know how much the big wigs are rooting for a small market team like Buffalo to be successful ;)

I think Saban would be the first one to blame himself. Did Wanny ever do that?

The whole team is at fault including the coaching staff.

I give Saban all of the blame for this loss. I also give him all of the credit for our two victories. He's in charge, and the buck stops w/ him - and it appears he will admit this too.

I really feel Saban will get this figured out, but he has to take the blame when - we get two weeks to work on this terrible penalty problem - and things get worse!! The penalties are the issue. When you penalize yourself with stupid, stupid - did I say stupid? - stupid penalties, it makes the rest of your team press, leading to turnovers, etc.

If we miss the playoffs due to one game this season, this is the game we'll be screaming about at the end of the year! And yes, Saban should take the blame when a team plays this undisciplined! I still love the guy, but he's gotta get this fixed!

Of course its' the coaching staff's problem. Never had a problem under shula because he never stood for it. You're *** would be gone...

You must not remember all of the bonehead penalties that Bryan Cox us in the 90's huh?

I agree, that being said at some point coaches coach and players play. Saban wasnt the guy out there drawing penilties. For a guy that preaches playing the game with the right mindset it will be intresting to see how he handles this. My only note would be not to go off the deep end too much, this is his first year with these players and it will take time for him to mold this team to himself. I know its hard to say "just give us more time, we will get better" but the reality is we were 4-12 last year......

Talk to any coach in the league. In college too for that matter. They will all tell you that penalties are a direct reflection on the coach. The penalties are absolutely unquestionably Saban's fault. You can't teach talent...either a player has it or he doesnt. You can, however, teach a player to be disciplined on the field...especially players that have shown they could limit their penalties in the past. Saban has failed in this respect. If this is something he is simply incapable of, then he needs to hire an assistant to handle it. I dont care how talented we are, we are never going to be a winning team as long as we keep getting double digit penalties.
