Saban mentioned Gus' injury at his pc today and said he is day to day with increased swelling in his finger. Will Nick use this as an excuse to finally start another QB on Sunday? This does seem to be a convienant way of making the move without having to answer for anything should things go sour.

Doubt it. Gus will start Sunday.

If Gus can play..he will. It's not a ploy.

it does seem like a convenient "out" as far as a QB controversy goes. cleveland has a weak enough secondary that an unproven QB wouldn't be a huge risk. plus, they don't generate a great pass rush. if there were ever a game to try it, this is the one.

I don't think Saban considers us out of the playoff race yet because at his press conference he said he thinks we have gotten better even though we lost our last 4 of 5 games or 5 of 6 games, something like that.

Sage is not going to save our season. We had a look last year in a game that meant nothing and he stunk.

I dont think anyone expects him to save the season, its already basically dead. People just want to see the younger guys get a legitimate shot.

The thought had crossed my mind. Its been done before but I dont think it applies in these circumstances.

Gus had an acceptable game and Linehan feels comfortable with him.I think Gus will start and play as long as he can.

If he is truly not up to it physically then maybe we will see a change in QB.

Starting another QB after, IMO, Gus' best performance in Aqua & Orange would just be stupid. Why didn't he bench him after last week's debocle? Sorry, no conspiracy here.

BTW, losing to the Pats was definately NOT Gus' fault. He might have screwed us before but you can put this one squarely on Chambers, McMichael, and Linehan (those last 4 plays sucked!)

I don't blame mcmike as much as chambers. When he was down I was screaming for him to get up. He tried to make a great play even better, as there was no one between him and the endzone. IN the process of getting up, the defender just got lucky/made a great play trying to keep him down. He just got a hand on the ball somehow in the process. He was trying to help his team win. Chris chambers was just calling for a flag after the ball went through his hands.
