Is this Belichicks last Year

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/scorecard/03/13/truth.rumors.nfl/index.html

Interesting thought as I was thinking the same thing. It is very uncharacteristic for the Pats to go on a spending spree like they have. Maybe this is BB's last hurrah? Thoughts?
Signs kinda point that way. Not that they are spending a ton of cash but the way they are spending it.

With big roster bonuses next year, which means they will not in all likely hood pick the option up next year.

I hope not... I want to stand on his head as we win the division a couple of times before he leaves to become a gigalo

Brady was quietly pissed off last year.... with no recievers that scare any defenses. Basically win with a running game and passing attack to the tight ends...which they managed to do.
They are finally getting some WR's and Chad Jackson is recovering from ACL injury....
Belichik did recently get a divorce...but who doesn't in coaching?
I think he sticks around longer.....

He may very well stay, only thing is they will be in the same issue next year with WRs. Because there is no way they pick the options up on Stallworth or Washington.

I've been saying this since the Stallworth signing. They've done a lot of F/A signings this year and they don't normally do a whole lot. Especially big names. The contracts are pretty reasonable for 07 (back-loaded) so makes we wonder why they are putting so much on the plate for the 07 season ? I'm really thinking that BB is either retiring after 07 or thinking of moving on to another position.

I have a feeling their is going to be a #1 st round WR drafted and after a year take over from stallworth and maybe sign kelly for 4 million.

Just speculation. It could also mean that they are trying to take the load off Brady's shoulders.

The guy has to do everything by himself on that offense.

Just a name I'll throw out there as a possible candidate to replace Belicheck: Romeo Crennell.

He's on the hotseat with the Browns. I think if they don't make the playoffs, which they won't, he will be let go. Let's face it, he never had a chance anyways. It's the ****ing Browns.

So if this is B.B.'s last year, why is he building a 4.5 million dollar home just outside of Foxbro? You guys really think he's going to coach the Giants and live about 25 miles from the Patriots stadium? Or he's going to retire and live within earshot of the Stadium parking lot?:sidelol: Keep dreaming. :sidelol:

Why did you quote me?

I've speculated that BB would end his career as coach of the Naval Acadamy. Just complete speculation on my part but I've wondered if he wouldn't be attracted to the position his father held. There have been lots of speculation about the Pats big spending this off season. I don't think it signals much about the long-term future. Folks aren't aware that the Pats spent lots of cash last year and got several guys re-signed and restructured. That acually help create cap room this year. The DL and OL are largely set for the next few years. I think Ty Warren becomes a FA after two years. The Thomas signing was the big signing. And the Colts absolutely took apart the LB pass coverage in the 2nd half of the AFC Championship game. It's not unlike the Joey Porter signing. Both should really help their respective teams for a few years. I think the Pats really liked Welker and think he'll fit very well in the Pats system as a possession receiver. The Pats love to run that screen to the WR and Welker should be very good in that kind of roll. And while not an explosive returner, he's a reliable punt catcher. They basically replaced the blocking of Graham with Kyle Brady for less money (FWIW, I'd rather have Graham). They basically signed Morris as a lower cost alternative to Dillon. Morris brings some special teams talents that Dillon didn't, but Dillon was probably a better short yardage runner. And Morris brings a smaller cap hit than Dillon would have. The Stallworth and Washington signings were basically "prove it" contracts. Given the structure I'd be surprised if either is with the team next year. The Pats really had to do something to shore up the WR corps. They have gone after free agents in the past (e.g., Colvin, Dillon, Harrison). Last year they tried to sign the WR Mason who's wife decided she wanted to be in the Baltimore area. So I think the Pats level of activity this year has been higher than normal, but I don't think it's completely out of character. And, I don't think any of the moves really mortgages the future. So no, I don't think the moves signal the end of the BB era. That said, at some point coachs are ready to simply step down, so who knows.

He just brought a house on the island for 4.5 million dollars....i will suprised if he packs up and leave after buying a house to live on.He is a devoted dad who goes to every one of his kids game. Both for his son and daughters lacrose matches. They live his divorced wife in holston and the kids goto college locally.Again i will suprised if he suddenly stops seeing his kids and moves away.
Also, 2 yrs in a row scott piolli has turned down a promotion and a bigger paycheck from the gaints as him and scott are a team.If he had left i would have been convinced this might happen but now i am not sure.

BB contract expired in 2006 and he signing a another 1 now and brought a 4.5 million dollar house in the cape.again looks like a big $$$ were used to buy his service. He os 55 and i can see in 5 yrs he will go coinciding with
brady, seymour, wilfork, vrabel, colvin, thomas, watson all hitting the mid 30s

The coach i am thinking who is actually crashing the team for a run is bronco`s.shannan has thrown huge contracts at every one and is gearing up for a run.

I can see that, watch out for Jay Cutler.
