obviously 2006 is done.

but what about 2007? does this franchise have enough problems that it is in long term trouble?

I think we look better next year than we do this year, but I dont see us being a playoff team. Dont really know how to vote in the poll. We ARE in trouble and we have been in trouble since the Shula Days.

I voted yes, we could be. We are old on defense and suck pathetically on offense. Long term we could be a team that is good on offense but sucks on defense. Who knows.

YES the d is getting old, the recivers cant catch and we got a ton of money invested in a qb that may never turn out.
maybe without a salary cap we could fix these probs quickly but since we do have one it could take years.and to many high priced high draft picks could kill whats left of the cap

We very well could be.

I've posted many times in other threads that this team has a lot of holes to fill. There's an abundance of positions that lack the needed base of young talent coming up in thr ranks. Result of bad drafting.

We need to have above avg. success in our drafts for the next 2 yrs to catch up and build a solid team IMO.

The next couple of years will be critical.
If we have some serious dud drafts the problems are just going to escalate.

I'd say 33 years is long term trouble.

We could be the next Arizona Cardinals :shakeno:

If they keep throwing draft picks like their QBs throw regular picks at other teams then the fins are in trouble and will become another Cinci or Arizona..

This team is in shambles. Just scrap it and start over.

Well said. Poor drafting has reallky hurt us. The cap forces teams to draft well, and Wannstedt ans Spielman killed us. They had a messed up strategy and rarely found decent players. Saban did very well in the first draft-given the quality of players in the draft and the number of picks we had-, and it's too early to evaluate this year's group.
We are in a huge hole, no doubt about it, but things can change pretty quickly. Maybe I'm delusional but I'm still not convinced that this team is as bad as their record. That is not to say that we're going to turn things around any time soon. You can stick a fork in this season but the holes can be filled with a few decent drafts ans soem good off-season moves.

Priorities for the future:

O-line- This unit is the weakest link on the team. Carey and Hadnot are the only two I see with a legit future here (except of course for Toledo who is an unknown at this point)

Dbs; These guys are getting killed in the media and on this site, but I don't think we're in as bad as shape as some believe. A solid Fs would make this a pretty decent secondary.

LB- Used to be astrenght of this team, but we are really thin here. ZT is not the same player he used to be, and when players start to decline it goes quickly.

TE- I think McMike's time in Miami may be coming close to an end. I know he signed but he's not adding a lot of value.

D-line-These guys are playing great, especially Traylor and Taylor, but we will need to get younger. I was impressed with Evans, and Wright has some talent.

QB-Almost 3/4 of the league is looking for that franchise QB . I still think we need to be patient with DC, but I'm not so sure with HArrington at his salary.
Unless Saban sees som ething very special in a QB, I don'';t think we'll be drafting one next year.

WRs- I ahte the idea of drafting another WR early but we may need to.

RB- R Brown is tremendous but I just can't seem to understand why he doesn't get more carries. Is he fragile? If Ricky doesn't come back -you never know with WIlliams- then we may need a scat back. Morris has been a major disapoinment this year.

Wrong, We ARE this years Arizona Cardinals...

As long as we don't mirror them and the Lions franchises long term.

Remember these are teams that have had every opportunity to turn it around with multiple years of top 10 picks in the draft and they still can't turn themselves around.

I really hope we don't reach that type of status.
Yeeesh........ my stomach just turned.

:crying: Dont want to think about that.

i believe in saban,he will right this ship,i respect that man's conviction and belief system,we have weak players and castoffs from other teams,i wish we would get rid of everybody and start completely over.

i support daunte,zach,jason taylor,ronnie,j allen,fred evans,rod wright,crowder,carey,welker,travis,will allen,bell,roth, and thats it!!!

I'm not really sure...we have a few good players, but we also have a lot of old players and guys who just are not that great. We have DC and Joey at QB and I honestly don't think either one is that great (injury or no injury). I think our running game should be ok with Ronnie and Ricky (possibly next year?). Our receivers have a real problem catching the ball (CC & Hagan) along with McMike. Our o-line is below average. I think our front 7 is ok, but they are getting old.

Maybe it is time to blow it up and start over. :(
