Adam Gase himself said in the post game presser that he was calling the same plays... "what's on the card is what's on the card" were his word to be exact. So why did the plays work in the second half and not the first?.

I have an idea but want to see if anyone else comes to the same conclusions I have at this point.

Probably because NE couldn't keep up the same intensity level on D after getting out to a huge lead.

and also like gase said, the tape doesn't lie. when the all 22 is made available tue/wed, we'll find out.

Definitely. That's what the adjusters miss. I just saw a post asserting the Dolphins could have won by 10 minus the turnovers. Unbelievable. The same mindset prefers to believe that Seattle would have played the same way if Stills catches the deep pass last week. Yep, game unfolds exactly the same way. No urgency by the Seahawks. Seattle says ho-hum, we score 12 and lose, who do we play next week?

Also, the Patriots miss Chandler Jones in a situation like second half today. Normally in rally mode drive after drive a cheap sack will ruin a possession even if the back seven is struggling. Today it didn't happen. Credit to the Dolphins' offensive line.

I am a glass half full kinda a guy, and maybe just maybe second half adjustments? Also maybe we have to wait till adam gase understands gets his players and the offenaive players learn the offense better. I remember two years ago (RT's best year) something seemed to click after the second game at that oak game in london. I honestly am just hopong for that. Maybe just maybe that second half of new england games is what the offense will look like: landry and Dvp unatoppable, jordan cameron actually catching passes and stills getting tds on long passes (beautiful throw). Btw i did not see NE playing vanilla defense at all, i wont write off adam gase after two games in his coaching debut with two difficult road games where the team played harder than I have seen in years.

Agree, but only up to a point. We got very uncomfortably close to OT for the Pats. No way they were just treating our momentum as garbage time, certainly not after the 2nd TD. But no doubt they had their collective eyes off the ball after the half, they were cruising so comfortably and probably laughing at us playing into their strengths (Interior, LBs and not picking on their weaknesses (Butler against bigger receivers, Ryan against quickfooted receivers).

I don't remember getting much in the second half based off blown coverages or missed assignments by the Pats. Maybe the Drake TD was a little easy, but the Pats D should have been wide awake by then as we were only a score away.

Agree though that success in the second half coming from 4 scores down is nothing like success in the first half in a tight game.

No mistakes at inopportune moments such as the Ajayi and Landry fumbles, miscued snap and interception, halftime adjustments combined with going no huddle.

Clearly a close call for the haters. Phew! They were freaking out that the Dolphins might actually come back in the game. I can just imagine them cheering each Blount 9 yard run through the defense. I'm sure they were screaming "MAKE IT! MAKE IT!"on the FG attempt and "DROP IT! DROP IT!" on the last pass.

Don't even attempt to deny it. We already know who you are. Man up and own it. You wanted the Dolphins to lose.

lol!

Pretty easy to figure out. When an offense stays on the field, QB's get into a rhythm and defense gets worn out and they make mistakes.

It has been clear to me over the years, Ryan gets better when he gets into a rythym. The up tempo offense has always seemed to help him. We should start the game with the no huddle.

Here's my opinion,

When your team goes up 31-3 in the 3rd quarter and you're playing with your 3rd string QB.. your focus and mentality changes as a Defense, Coaching Staff and Team.

Offensively you're just trying to kill clock and not turn the ball over.

Defensively you go from an aggressive mentality to a lets not be too aggressive and give up quick scores mentality, MUCH DIFFERENT. This mentality makes it easier on the WR to get open, and the QB to find them and make good throws. You don't blitz as much, or as a defense you may not take many chances when it comes to contesting passes. You'll let them catch the ball and make sure you tackle them as opposed to gambling to try and INT or deflect the pass and maybe give up a quick score.

I don't think it had anything to do with any adjustments made by the fins because Gase was asked specifically, what did they do differently in the second half and he said NOTHING! So if we didn't do anything differently, and we have the same players.... It had to be a difference on the defensive side right?

I think the guys are obviously still learning the offense. And they better executed in the 2nd half. Offenses take time and this is a complex offense
