Air Coryell Coaching Staff

John Madden, Joe Gibbs, Jim Hanifan (Houck cant even carry this guys jock), and Ernie Zampese were all part of Coryell's assistant coaching ranks.

Also, E.Zampese, Bum Philipps.

Bill walshes coaching staff
holmgren, green, seifert, rhodes... i dont think you can beat that...

Our staff has done nothing yet. Let's at least see what moves they make in FA and how our offseason goes before we make any kind of judgements.

I believe calling our current coaching staff "best of all time" is WAY too premature, but I wouldn't trade Pittsburgh's, New England's or Washington's coaching staff for ours. I believe ours has the potential to be the best in the league.

And I don't see how some Dolphins fans here can't be excited about the potential that adding these coaches can do for our team!!!!

How old are ya grasshoppa...?

I forgot to add, Dick Vermeil was Special Teams coach under Coryell...

If I may add...Chuck Knoll and Al Davis also came from Chargers land with Coryell and Gilman:-)

Should I go with more? :-

Santana Moss is twice the player Coles is!!!! That was a very dumb trade...chalk one up to your GM there....Herm was NOT gonna be fired...but if that makes you feel better fine.

Enjoy the next 5 years of being a bottom 5 team..have fun!:sidelol:

yes in his career Moss has 1 better year(a year where Coles played w/ 5 QBs and his team had no running game) so that makes him twice the player Coles is

Have you even looked at capers statisitics when he was a defenisve coordinator.

That's great but do rankings win SBs? Pitt didn't make it while he was there then happened to the year he left.

After capers stint with the panthers he was signed by the jags. There defense was ranked number #1 in points allowed @ 217. 12th all time since 1978.

Playing against the mighy offenses of Cle, Cincy, Pit and Bal

Once again the theme was his D folded at home in the Championship game and after that '99 year they went from 1 to 16 and nevr again came close to top 5.

if MM wasnt that good then why did alot of teams want him on their staff. Dude, face reality! MM was a hot commidity and Saban knew it.

I didn't say either of the hires were not good BUT i think you had a better staff last year. At best MM is as good as Linehan and I would MUCH rather have Saban running my D than Capers. I would agree you have the best HC-OC-DC combo in the AFC East but that doesn't make this is all-time staff.

Its close. their densive coach isnt better than ours and thats a fact. As for saunders. he is better than MM right now. Well, joe gibbs is joe gibbs..

WHAT??????? Greg Williams BLOW AWAY Capers, it's not even close.

the fact that Pitt's D actually made plays in big games and went to the SB after Capers left and the fact that Jax went downhill when he was named DC after Jauron left are 2 clues to me that he is not a great DC. I'm not syaing he isn't good but you didn't just get Belichick to run the D and again I'd much prefer Saban calling the shots on D if I were you guys.

Buddy Buddy Buddy, Saban will call most of the defense. Dom is just going to get the coffee and donuts and play some Nintendo with Nick!

I know. Someone is getting a little ahead of themselves. Let's see if this staff can put together a good offseason and then a good season. Then if they can stay together for years to come (won't happen). then to see how many SB's they win. I'm happy with this group, but it's wayyy too early.

It seems to me the best staff ever came out of the old Cleveland team when Billy and Nicky were on it back in the day. There were some other big names too. My memory is kind of shady on this one though because I kind of glanced at an article of it a long time ago. The other 2 big staff producers were Dallas in the 90s and New England in the 00s. Our's isn't proven the best yet, but it is shaping up to be a bright future.

I know we fell just short of the SB but the Jets staff w/ parcells as HC, Weis as OC and Belichick as DC blows away any staff of the last 15 years.

This coaching staff is probably second to the staff in Washington overall. But I would rather have the second best coaching staff coaching superior althletes than the first best coaching the lesser. IMO, Miami has an overall superior team right now and it will only get better. I think Miami will have players flocking to play for them now. I mean, how can you beat the Dolphins organization, the coaching staff, the location (sand, surf, women, and NO TAXES). How can you top the direction the franchise is moving in and the commitment from the owner, and all else involved, to bring a championship to Miami. Gibbs and his staff will have broken up while Miami is still playing championship football. The whole idea of bringing all these coaches in is to spread the knowledge through the Dolphins staff and to strengthen it for the future. Can you imagine how Muschamp is benefitting from the knowledge he is, or will be gaining from Saban and Capers. And how Jason Garrett has benefitted from working under Linehan and now Mularkey.
I could care less who thinks or doesn't think we have the best staff in the NFL. We do have the deepest. That means more individual attention to players which equals more in depth coaching, it means we won't be hurt as badly if we lose a coach in the future which equals less of a transitional period. Saban has this thing working like a machine that is manufacturing good coaches and winning football. And it will stay this way for a loooooong time. So when the "best" staff in Washington is long gone, Miami will still have all this knowledge flowing through the organization. Sounds like a winning formula to me.
