We all know Saban, he likes to play smokescreens, he likes to hide stuff. Is it possible the only reason he's benching Culpepper and using Harrington...is to get trade bait out of Harrington? Honestly i see more potential in Harrington, i honestly think Culpepper is done, hes past his prime. But do u think hes trying to play Harrington to be a great player, so that other teams (possibly Cleveland, even Detroit, Washington...teams who need a QB) will trade us a lot for him? This may have been brought up already so my apologies...but i think its a big possibility.id really rather keep them both, cuz that means we'll never have QB issues again..

No, Saban is playing Harrington b/c thus far Daunte lacks mobility. Saban is thinking about wins not trades.

I think you've managed to sucker yourself into a conspiracy theory.

Most likely, unless he hits a streak of so many games in a row. If he does that, he's staying IMO. anything other than that, and we're working on trading the guy. I also think Culpepper knows this, which is the reason he's not so unhappy with his benching. Just my opinion..

yea but i wonder if he wil trade Harrington...we can get a 3rd, 4th or something for the guy. Plus, they said tehy see DC as our future franchise QB according to the palmbeach or whatever from today.

I would think that, a 3rd or 4th for Joey. What is the price we gave up for him????

C-Pep will be our QB for a long time.

saban benched daunte for the same reason jason allen has yet to see the field. he doesn't want to be embarassed anymore.

I agree. It is a win win situation.
Daunte culpepper gets in top shape trade harrington for a pick n feel other needs.

no. im sorry its not a smoke screen..

we are in a worse qb situation than we were last year...

what gets me, is that we tried so hard to get a qb...and got 2 of um that shoulda been capable of not wrecki9ng the ship....

but here we are..1-5..and talking trades and draft...

just sad man..

If Culpepper was healthy, Saban would definitely be playing him. With that being said... Culpepper wasn't healthy or anywhere near ready to be starting this season and Saban STILL played him. Those 25 sacks in 4 games or so was mostly Culpepper's fault along with our terrible Offensive line. The best thing for this franchise is to place Daunte on IR and let him fully heal and work his back to football and ready for next season. Daunte had almost no mobility and was like a STATUE in the pocket. Why did Saban do it? I'm not sure maybe he was thinking of winning now instead of resting someone with the potential of Culpepper who he gave up a 2nd round draft pick for. Having Daunte out there right now would be the worst possibly thing for this team because your'e risking our future starting QB and his career. Why he hasn't place Daunte on IR, I'm not sure. The worst thing that could possibly happen to us right now would been Joey Harrington getting injured or benched (which I don't see happening) because it would mean Daunte would have to take over when he clearly shouldn't be playing now or shouldn't have even played this season. If we started Cleo Lemon, we would probably go 1-15. Also, we can't just sign a QB off the street and ask him to learn the system in a couple of weeks... or maybe we can... I don't know, could maybe win a game or two eventually. So therefore Joey Harrington is our starting QB for the rest of this season by default NOT because Saban is showing him off to trade him. I'm not say that Harrington will be on this team next year whether it's being released or traded, I don't know. I think he probably will be but it's too early to tell. Place Daunte on IR and let him get healthy for 2007. It's the best thing for this franchise to have Daunte on IR in my honest opinion.
