Every article, Blog, or T.V report refers to Bill Parcells for everything. The scouting and draft dept. is run by Jeff Ireland the G.M.

I think it's time we start asking "what is Jeff Ireland/ Tony Sparano going to do" instead of "what is Bill Parcells going to do".

Everytime you hear anyone talk about the dolphins roster reconstruction it's always Bill Parcells will do this and Bill Parcells will do that. What about our GM and H.C? I've heard their name about once the last two months.

How many other VP of football operation's names do you hear being associated with their current teams. None.

Example

I think we'll start hearing their names when they do something to connect them to, like pulling the trigger on a trade, signing some free agents, etc. Until then it's all about BP cause he's the name everyone knows. No disrespect, I'm sure, but he's the name and has the recognition in the media. That's what sells...

I agree mostly... But I remember hearing Sparano in a press conference, when asked about the draft boards and FA'cy, he said something to the effect that he has only met with Ireland and Parcells a minimal amount of times regarding drafting and scouting Fa's because he is trying to get the players he already has ready for OTA's.

Maybe Parcells and Ireland are running the draft and FA without Sparano... I think the media is reffering to BP and JI so much because they are spending most of the time preparing for the draft and FA and gathering the talent, then Sparano coaches the talent.

Thats just it. Ireland is supposed to evaluate & draft the talent and Sparano coaches the talent. But if you listen to the media they don't even so much mention Jeff Ireland. Just Bill Parcells. I've seen Sparano and Ireland at the combine but I have yet to see B.P. Which is how it is supposed to be.

i agree with you on this....Parcells is who everyone's familiar with, and he's running the show...yes,Ireland&Sparano have their jobs and they hopefully have an idea about what they want to do for the Dolphins, but,we all know that Parcells is running the show.

You bring up a good point. I tried making this point in my contest entry in which the title of the contest topic was, Can Bill Parcells turn the Dolphins around?

Yet my essay was not selected as a finalist. I'm still bitter. ;)

You think? Come on man of course they are. Sparano is a puppet and anyone who believes otherwise is just flatout fooling themselves.

Do you really think Parcells would put his reputation on the line by letting a first year head coach be involved in the evaluation and selection of future players? No matter what they may tell you Bill is running the show along with his sidekick Jeff Ireland.

Sparano having input. That is too funny!

Parcells is teaching both these guys everything he knows. Parcells is only gunna be around 2-3 years, 4 at the very most. And he is grooming these guys for the future.

Plus he is the big name. And that is what gets the attention. After a 1-15 season a name like Parcells at least keeps us on the football radar.

The Raiders and the Cowboys are the same.

Al Davis & that m0r0n in Dallas are both automatically assumed to make every decision...

Ireland has basically said as much a couple of times by accident....

It is a GOOD thing, no doubt about it IMO. Less pressure and less press will only allow Ireland and Sporano to do a better job. The press are a tremendous drain on those guys....

I think Parcells is playing golf today....but it is a 3 headed monster... all three guys on the same page. But there is too much talk of Parcells as if he is the head coach

Yes, this is starting to annoy me too.

I see Parcells at his age as a guy who wants to put his guys (Ireland and Sparano) in place and then kick back and bet on the horses. I think after this first year his impact will be minimal except when there is credit to be given, then you will see his face. If there is any blame to be doled out, you won't be able to find him, that will be layed at Ireland and especially Sparano.

Good post. That is exactly what bugs me. The media doesn't realize how ignorant this makes them look, and predictable.
