If the GM is fired which may or may not happen based on whether he actually supports the coaches, the next GM should come out of Green Bay where harmony will still exist with Philbin.

The best time to fire a GM is after the draft, before all the scouting begins for the following year. Why fire your GM at the end of the regular season and lose all that scouting and draft preparation? Ireland is not going to be fired next week or this summer, so Ireland is VERY likely to still be in charge come draft time next year. Unless this team is something like 3-13, which we all know is not happening, Ireland is pretty much locked in as GM.
Keep this in mind, when the day does arrive that Ireland does leave, Philbin is going out the door also. A new GM is going to want his own head coach, so get ready to change head coaches again. So if you are hoping for Philbin to be a success, you better hope Ireland sticks around and does well also. Ireland and Philbin are a package deal.
Are you a Dolphins fan? If so you will remember that not only does this happen in the NFL, it happened recently with Miami. Saban kept Spielman on for the 2005 draft, then replaced him in June with Mueller. Why? Because he didn't want to flush all the scouting and draft prep down the toilet.Bro, honestly, what the **** are you talking about? When was the last time an NFL franchise fired it's GM immediately after the draft??? That doesn't ever happen. GMs get fired along with coaching staffs at the end of seasons or even mid season like what SHOULD HAVE happened to Ireland along with Sparano's useless ass this year.
If this team falls apart AGAIN this year, and the '12 draft looks unpromising, Ireland is gone, I'd bet you anything. You're the same guy who didn't want to hear anything about Sparano being fired at the beginning of this season... If Capt. Dick head drafts Tannehill this year, I can only hope we have a shot at Barkley next year.
I don't think Ireland is a good GM, but he isn't going any where this year and probably not next year either, unfortunately.
The entire fan base is up in arms and (assuming next year is unsuccessful) he will be the GM of a team with 4 consecutive losing seasons and very little hope for a future to speak of. Again, I only hope that Tanny is not the selection in the first round this year because it will be the worst thing that could possibly happen to this team, but I can't see how Ireland is around next year, barring a miraculous '12 season.

Jeff Ireland should be getting nervous as draft nears,he knows his job is on the line. If he blows this draft with players that cant help Philbin he should be fired and ross should sell the team because ther wont be many fans left, not sure about any buyers that wuold want to buy a broke down circus?
If Ireland is fired, there likely is no year two for Philbin.I think the beginning of the end started in 2009 and hopefully the end came this year, with a new successful beginning starting next year (its more than likely we will not be successful this year, but year two under Philbin hopefully will bring success)
I really don't remember it working out that way specifically, and if it did it was certainly a rare case. You don't let a GM hang around for the draft, then pat him on the back and tell him " hey, great draft, by the way you're ****in fired".
But you know what, if you are right about the Speilman / Mueller situation, it wouldn't surprise me in the least for the simple fact that I've never heard of another organization conducting business in such a God awful fashion, and the ensuing losing seasons were nothing more than the chickens coming home to roost.
More importantly, if you don't have any faith in a GM or his personnel decisions, and are planning on firing him, why in the hell would you rely on any of his aforementioned "draft prep"??? Why would you want his ineptitude having any further influence over yr organization?! What yr saying makes no sense.
Are you a Dolphins fan??? If so you should have never wanted Sparano as yr head coach or Ireland as your GM.

A new GM is going to want HIS head coach. Oakland and Indianapolis are just this year's examples. Philbin is tied to Ireland.A GM is fired at the same time as a HC after the season. Philbin is not on thin ice like Ireland is. Failing in the draft is not on Philbin so I don't see a head coaching change if Ireland is fired.
