This total insanity over Jeff Fisher reminds me of how we were all excited over the Jimmy Johnson and Nick Saban hires and look at what that turned out to be. I just can't see why do many people think that Fisher is going to be a miracle worker and turn us into a Superbowl contender. I just don't see it with him. And we all know that Fisher would be ranked 3rd behind Cowher and Gruden if they were in the mix. I don't want to get my hopes up yet again only to be let down. We've all been there and done that. I personally would like to see Zimmer or even Toub who is well respected around the league. Yeah they're NOT the sexy names but neither were Sean Payton, John Harbaugh or Mike McCarthy when they were hired.

I think what most of us see is a good head coach that was hampered by poor ownership and poor personnel decisions during his career, who despite that, rebuilt the Titans on three occasions due to those personnel decisions and in all three instances, rebuilt the team into 12-13 game winners that were legitimate contenders. It seemed like everytime Fisher got a team to the point of winning 12-13 games, they had free agent defections and ended up rebuilding.

But also, Fisher had control over those personnel decisions in Tennessee. That scares me a bit if he comes to Miami.

No, he didn't. For most of his tenure there, Floyd Reese had control over those personnel decisions, and in the latter years, Mike Reinfeldt had control over the personnel decisions. Jeff Fisher has never had authority over the football operations. The most notable instance is the fact that Jeff Fisher did not want Vince Young.

And it is said that Fisher had a lot of turmoil and loose discipline in Tennessee the last several years he was there. He apparently doesn't know how to handle problem players or problems in the lockerroom.

i say if we finally learn our lesson and LEAVE HIM OUT OF THE PERSONNEL/FRONT OFFICE stuff, we may have agreat HC on our hands. if we try to once again get that hybrid/franchise builder going - we will repeat our mistakes and be set back another 5 years.

im hoping ross sticks to what he initially said and hires a HC not a "guru"

I also noticed that when Fisher was in Tennessee he had a lot of undersized players on defense. Defensive Tackles that were 278 and 285 pounds. Linebackers that were 230-235. Also, a lot of smallish defensive backs. I have never liked undersized guys on the defensive side of the ball, especially when cold weather rolls around and teams pound the ball at you. Smaller defenders can get buried.

Oops.

Fisher held final say over his roster for much of his time in Tennessee and reportedly wants that with his new team.

Yeah, Haynesworth was tiny and Finnegan is just terrible for his size. Samari rolle, was also just a terrible undersized player.

LOL whatever dude, are you trying to make excuses for why you don't like him or what? It seems like you're really reaching here.

I will bet anything that Fisher will never turn our Dolphins around like Jim Harbaugh has done with the 49ers. I will also say that Jim Harbaugh is a great coach. Fisher may be good but he's not great. There's a difference.

Whys that? Because Harbaugh benefited from a easy schedule in his first season? He did exactly what Sparano did. Obviously he won more games but the NFC West is a ****ing joke. You will be surprised at what Fisher could do to this team.

Harbaugh had the benefit of inheriting a talented team just like Rex Ryan, now everyone is ready to crown them lords of the NFL. Look what happened this year when the Jets lost some of their talent. Can't coach talent.

No team in the nfl is completely devoid of talent but san Francisco was far from one of the most talented teams
