This will be is 3rd season as a Miami Dolphin. I think he should start, but we got Kevin Carter. Anyone think Roth will start over Carter...I hope so.Roth was a second round pick two years ago.

"Matt Roth will be the reason I retire" - Kevin Carter.

On 75% (or more) of NFL teams, he'd be starting in 2007.

However, with our DEEP/Talented crew of DE's, he may rotate in 2007.
But his % of plays will increase.
Also, once K.Carter leaves (maybe 2008), Roth is full-time starter for maybe 5-7 years.

He will start and Carter will rotate this year. IMO

What's interesting about Roth is he's like 280 and Carter is 305ish yet Roth is stronger at the point of attack. Plus, he's faster.

At some point you have to start turning over this roster and freeing up cap space. Carter is 6.5M - no way is he worth that. Will he take a pay cut - I don't think so but maybe we let him test the market and if he goes oh well - Roth can step in. If we lose Holliday and Carter that would hurt - BUT - we will save alot of cap. IMO Carter will stay one more year and move inside to replace Holiday's role - just a guess. That will allow Roth on the field more. It also depends on how good Rod Wright is and do we have any other DE possibilities.

Yes. Its time for him to get the opportunity to start. Carter may not be year this year and its time for new young talent on the DL and replace the aging vets.

I'm all for it, of course I'm biased, but I've also seen first hand what he can do given the opportunity. Simply put, he's a stud.

He better start, or at the very least play significantly more than last year. Carter is good but we need to get our younger players some game experience.

i was just about to post that. I really think that carter will start this season but it will be his last because there will be even more rotation between the two of them.

It may all come down to cap dollars. Carter is pretty good, but he counts fairly significant to the cap. If they feel they can get at least the output, if not more by Roth, then they'll let him walk. I'd see if he'd be willing to stay for a reasonable contract, but I wouldn't count on it. We'll lose probably at least 2 if not 3 of our DL to F/A and cuts. Cam is going to feel the pressure to bring in some play-makers via the draft and F/A and he doesn't have enough cap room for both. Hard decisions may have to be made very soon.

I can't see us keeping both Holliday and Carter. Holliday is probably more likely to leave out of the two because A. he's got one last great payday coming from some team, and we don't have the cap space to outbid, and B. Carter restructured last year, making him harder to cut.

Roth will start I think, either at closed end or inside end, probably closed end, possibly moving Carter inside.

i think he will start in 2007! he doubled his stats last year, is younger and faster as carter and he is also a good fit as a 3-4 de! carter might get cut, i read he's making over 6 million $, that's too much and we need as much money available for big free agents signings!
