Is Tindall Potentially The Josh Allen Solution?

Don't know, but the Josh Allen Solution sounds like a band name.

I'd be happy with him showing solid abilities as a LB before we worry about it he can potentially help stop a top QB.
Sure. It's early July. It's a good thought exercise if he develops the way we hope.

Give him some simple reads early and let him hunt..

Hunting Josh Allen or the flats for any outlet passes sounds simple enough.
Not sure this scheme has all that many simple reads beyond the thumper in the middle.

I considered the possibility of using him in a "spy" role, but even that requires good reads and sound assignment responsibility, maybe even more so.

I have to agree with some of the others, best to work him in slowly and not ask him to do things he is not ready for. The good thing is with athletic guys like Gink and Phillips on the edge, as well as Brandon Jones and Holland at S, we have the luxury of giving Tindall time to learn as he goes

Good video. Tindall will definitely help with the more mobile QBs. Worth a watch.

There are weaknesses in the 'spy' scheme that are more difficult with a good running QB and receivers with quick separation. If any Mia LB ends up being a 'good' spy, I doubt it will be used a majority of the time.

That video did a good job of highlighting Tindall's strengths and weaknesses. It would be unreasonable to expect Tindall to be an all-round LB in year 1. I suspect he may not become that until year 3 at the earliest (assuming he reaches his potential). He probably won't even displace Roberts as a goal line, short yardage, inside run defender this year. But as a spy and edge to edge defender he can have an immediate impact. I agree with the narrator that moving forward and tracking runners to the edge he looks faster on the field than even his impressive timed speed. It will be imperative that the coaching staff does a good job of balancing when to put him in position to make a play and when they put him in roles to develop his all-around skills.

Tindalls biggest hurdle is likely to make sure he doesn’t over shoot his target. Guys w/ his speed and skill set are going to be working on the offensive side of the LOS of scrimmage largely. Carrying backs, blitzing, spy whatever it is. Those are his likely asks imo. He is wicked fast but it will be worthless if he is getting side stepped and he’s over pursuing ball carriers. If he can be a clean tackler I believe he’ll be productive in a package role. I don’t see the instincts to drop in coverage at this point, so year 1 I’d ask to do what I mentioned above and see how he grows

His missed tackle rate in college last year was 7.4% according to PFF. That ranked 27th in all of college football, so that should be encouraging regarding your concern.

Sounds promising. Wasn’t a big concern of mint watching him, just a concern regarding his skill set and what he’ll likely be asked to do. My biggest concerns w/ his play are the instincts and Lack of game reps. No substitution for game reps. I’d keep him in a he run and chase role year 1 and make clean tackling a priority. I’d be thrilled if he exceled there

Relatively speaking spying a Qb and covering the flats on an outlet is something he should be able to do, pass rushing and blitzing as well..

Reading the run game instinctively is where his ceiling will lye imo and will take time.

Nakobe was the brains of that defense..
