And that will take longer than one year so we better be patient.
I agree with you 100% in regards to that old GM, Dennis Hickey is a clear upgrade there. But Hickey has been known to ask some outlandish questions as well.

My almost 2 yr old daughter would have been an upgrade over Ireland! This has been at least 3 yrs over due for me!
Yes, it does make things more interesting. Maybe we'll actually stumble upon a great player in the draft for a change.
I can't say I'm thrilled with the Grimes signing. Strikes me as very average. Granted, average is a considerable upgrade from where we've been. Ireland had no clue toward value or the likely curve of a player's career, which is how we wind up with the moronic Reshad Jones contract and pursuit of guys like Wheeler and Ellerbe.
An astute organization would be scheming to trade Grimes at the peak of his return just before age is likely to cause a small but meaningful decline, while already having him locked up to a reasonable contract, and with a bigger and younger talented cornerback ready to take his place. We're not anywhere close to that level. That's why we take the safe but very average path of paying high dollar for a 31 year old cornerback who lacks the ideal measurables for the position and will probably bounce downward somewhat in 2014. Again, very average. I don't hate it like the Reshad Jones move a year ago but I don't see any reason to celebrate.

There's no proof he's gonna take a slide next your Awsi.
He's only guaranteed 16 mil which is 2 years at the most. If he declines or gets hurt he's not guaranteed a lot of money.

I believe showing the reward for a good performance for a high quality individual will payoff long term. It rebuilds some of the credibility, and the move stabilizes our backfield with a solid performer. I am very happy with this move.
