I read these threads all the time. It does not matter if we have heard of the guy. It is not our job to know about all the players. Guys get paid to do that. The more you read about Toledo, the more you realize guys get paid to analyze. And if you pay attention over the years, a lot of guys you have heard of don't necessarily translate to good players in the NFL. This is especially the case with WRs and QBs.
It just doesn't matter, other than to say that I am glad we don't make the picks.

I don't give a damn if Saban picked JOE BLOW from Backwoods Oklahoma!!! I'll back any pick this guy makes...UNTIL he proves other wise. In this leauge you need depth in the O Line and D Line. Last time I check most of the long lasting linemen weren't drafted in the 1st or 3rd rounds. This is where we get the hungry players with something to prove. I bet that one of our three 7th round picks start this season!!!!:dolphins:

yea i dont care we pick i mean the reason people get all upity about no names is bc u cant really get excited about them. like allen and hagans i cant wait to see what these guys do i know nothing about toledo. but the ariticle posted on another thread was really encouraging to read a lot of nice points on him and i mean pretty much after the 5th round i cant get excited unless i've seen them play.

Do you guys remember the chaos in Dolfan-land after the Randy McMichael pick? Noone heard of him, and people were furious. Everyone wanted U of Miami Guard Martin Bibla.

Saban's getting his type of players. Smart, versatile, coachable, big upside. We should be partying along with Saban, not berating him by thinking we know something he doesn't - when he has yet to be proven wrong by his drafting ability.

I was hoping we nabbed Greg Blue. but Minni got him. I'm starting to really dislike the Vikes.:tantrum:

Trust me bro...You didnt want Greg Blue....Now Im the biggest Dawg fan alive...But i will be honest and tell you this guy is too slow and not smart enough to play safety at this level...Yes he can hit...but dude that's it. He might be good if he gained weight and played OLB.

I completely agree. It never ceases to amaze me how so many people (the media included) think that they can evaluate these guys better than many of the scouts and coaches who have spent countless hours pouring over film, watching workouts, and interviewing these players. Just because the media ranks players in a certain order does not mean that is how they will pan out talent-wise. I am actually glad that we have drafted some "no-name" guys since it shows that Saban and his staff are not paying any attention to what the media thinks and are going by what their own observation and evaulation process is telling them. Remember that a lot of the stars in the NFL today were "no-name" guys and many of those media-hyped players never even played in a single NFL game.

In my opinion, we will not know how good or bad this draft was until at least a couple of years.

Regards,
