I've been a Dolphin fan since birth....33 years of Dolphin love....
This past decade has been hard as a fan....Mediocrity, Pats domination with no real answer except gimmicks, Seeing the freaking Jets get to 2 AFC championship games with Mark Sanchez and seeing the Dolphins get in the playoffs just once. I have witnessed numerous failures in coaching and the front office as well as on the field.
I wrote last week about starting to believe in this Franchise again....having faith that they will actually make the plays and moves to win games. There is a different aura about this team....a fight and swagger that had been missing in the past. Some of it stems from the "us against the world" mentality adopted after the media scrutiny for the Martin/Incognito affair, but mostly it comes from the team knowing that have a QB that can win games.
It is amazing how much can change for a franchise when they find "their" QB. We've seen it time and time again in the NFL....Brady, Manning, Flacco, Brees....when a team gets their franchise QB, the whole attitude of the franchise changes. We are seeing it with the Dolphins....it is hard to recognize since it has been almost 30 since we watch the early stages of that type of QB, but we finally have one. You can see it in his play, you can hear it in his teammates comments, and you can witness it in the way the team plays. They believe in Tannehill, they believe he can lead them down the field and win games, that, if needed, can put the team on his back and carry them when other things are not working. It has been a process, but watching him earn the respect with his play and his leadership has been enjoyable.
It's been a long time, but the team, has their franchise QB and as a result; are relevant once again.
FIN UP!!!!
