I think people put way too much into us using the 2nd round pick on Chad Henne. Yes, the Trifecta drafted him. But at the time we had only really John Beck on our team, they knew he was not what they wanted. And Henne fits the mold of QB's that Parcells likes. BUT, and I mean BUT, the success of the wildcat once they implemented it in Week 3, I believe was even surprising to them as well. And the wildcat is a run offense out of the spread. Without someone to throw though, the wildcat becomes obsolete. And I think the drafting of Pat White should have been enough for people to realize the type of offense we want to run. And now with the trade for Thigpen, this only makes it that more obvious. While I have no doubt they think highly of Henne, believe you me, if he struggles, he will be replaced. This coaching staff wants to run the spread, and I think many of you are really down on Thigpen, he did considerably well out of the spread. Not saying he's a future HOF'er, but I not as bad as many of you have made him out to be. I think that we have 3 QB's now who if they turned into a legitimate NFL QB, you couldn't say you'd be shocked. At least I wouldn't. The spread is how we want to go, and that should be obvious by now.

So you are saying the staff could not put together a coherent offensive strategy, and failed to draft for that strategy over a two year period?

Listen to yourself. Seriously.

The spread offense is a completely different animal then the Wildcat. The spread is what NE runs to perfection (atleast use to), we have hardly run it at all except when White has come in and 2 of those times he's just handed it off.

LMAO @ Bill Parcells getting away from his MO of power running football and opting for college football spread options.

I thought it was well-known we have a spread package installed, and it was meant for White. Because White has been a little too timid and wide-eyed, Thigpen will now run it.

It's no secret that we want to run it.

There has been talk of combining more of a spread element to the wildcat all off season.

That will open it up a lot. Especially when you have a power offensive line that can run block with less people in the box.

That's their vision. And why they spent so much on the O-line.. Usually you see those finesse spread offenses with finesse O-lines.. They can't usually run the ball well.. This regime wants a dominating run blocking line that can really throw defenses off with the spread element.

Well, I have'nt seen White look timid or wide-eyed since he was drafted. He does, however, have a long way to go (and it might not even be worth it).

Agree, wrong choice of words. Was using them figuratively to mean he's "not ready."

WE ARE NOT GOING TO RUN A SPREAD. PAT OF WHITE IS NOT THE QB OF THE FUTURE. We just need to accept that the FO just wanted to use him in the wildcat to help ease the rebuilding process. I guarantee that if the Panthers hadn't traded up to take Everette Brown right in front of us we never would have drafted Pat White

We've already run the spread. And nobody said White had to be the QB of the future...they've already given that title to Henne. So what exactly are you yelling about?
