Sometimes guys are cut to end teh controversy, so that the players they are going with dont look over their shoulder. Many reasons why someone is cut. Better chemistry, better options, fresh start, etc.. It doesnt mean Saban doesnt think Aj cannot be the backup, rather it is better for teh team as a whole if he indeed does cut him.

good point. It's why Bates isn't the D-coordinator. It's why Buff finally got rid of Flutie for Rob Johnson (that worked well for them didn't it)..and many many other examples of this type of thing. It's nothing new.

and if there was anyone who thought that Nick wasn't going to reshape this team into his image...they were sorely mistaken....on this board alone there were at least 20 different threads right after Saban was hired discussing this.

This year yes. But add in the 600K prorated portion of his signing bonus and that becomes 1.14Million.

Gus makes 800K plus 250K bonus for a total of 1.05million.

Sage makes 575K w/ 0 bonus for a total of 575K

Next year AJs base salary will escalate dramatically.

I think this is definitely true. The team has to carry 3 QBs.

The Nfl is a business but the dolphins have always been a family and have been one of the if not the most loyal team to they're players and likewise this just signals a guy who will come in and do what he wants and if eh wins he looks like a genious if he doesn't he will just go get another big payday in college!

Your comments can be said about any coach. Saban has total control, and it's his decision. Perhaps the team was too loyal because they have not been an elite team in a long time. I'll give you one of the best things I ever heard a coach say, who wanted total control, "If they want you to cook the meal, they should atleast let you shop for the groceries."-Bill Parcells, on wanting total control.

True, but why hold onto a guy you don't believe can help your team win football games and who will need to be cut in the offseason due to his salary jumping to 3.5 million? I'm not even in favor of cutting him, but all things being equal, it would probably make sense to bring in a guy who we feel can play better and maybe even be on the roster next season.

So you know, I really hoped Feeley would win the job. I like his arm and I actually thought he showed some glimpses last year. I was very disappointed that he didn't seem to really work in the offseason to come in and make his push. He also hasn't demostrated any growth in terms of decision making and pocket presence in camp or the preseason. I'm going to trust the coaches and hope they're making the right decision. Only time will tell if it's the right one.

This whole competition was a sham. Neither looked any better, and Gus looked as inept against Tampa as AJ did against Atlanta. At least AJ had one good game (Tampa) Gus never showed anything, not even one good game.

Whatever. I will just trust Saban and Co. saw more on practices, drills, etc. that led them to believe this was the right choice. It's season one so "in Nick I will trust". But it just doesn't feel like this was on the up and up.

I never understood Rob Johnson. Had Buffalo stayed with Flutie, I really think they would have won the Superbowl during the season that Johnson took over for the last game and playoffs. Poor Doug!

As much as I like Bates, I wasn't a huge fan of his scheme and I think he was able to coast on our talent. He could be in for a rough year in Green Bay.

I find it ammusing that Feeley supporters are posting things to convince each other that Feeley's lack of talent has nothing to do with his plummet into the toilet. Face the facts guys, Feeley is another mistake made by the past regime. He has no "upside" unless that includes carrying a clipboard with the best of 'em. If he makes this team this year, it will be because we have no other option out there.

Feeley is the worst qb on the team atleast if not the worst qb in the entire NFL. does your like for feeley have anything to do with the oregon part of your name considering you might like oregons college because if that is true i can see you being a little biased and just to tell you FEELEY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
