Those that support Culpepper and those that support the Dolphins. I have read a few posts that attempt to understand both sides of the situation. Miami really has had a rough spell of it with trading for quarterbacks since Marino. It stings more that once again a second round pick appears squandered. So I can understand that sting when the idea of release is mentioned.
With Culpepper, his situation has been mishandled from the beginning, and Saban is likely just a part of the bigger picture with that. Culpepper very well may have to assume some personal responsibility in that as well, but one could argue the victom position as well. And while I understand the team position, you can not help but understand that this is awkward, unfair to an extent, and I do have a hard time with the way his situation was handled at the practice in which the team was told of his participation or lack there of. That could have been handled a little differently, but I guess that was the most efficient manner to inform everyone on the team (although pretty insensitive to Duante). Duante should not have been told for the first time of this expectation in front of 90 plus people. That was a little on the classless side. What we do not know is whether this had been communicated and ignored by him before the practice.

All in all, it is just another distraction on a team that can not afford distractions, but rather must focus on righting the ship. There are clearly two losers in this situation.

I do think putting Dante out there like that was pretty uncool the management has done nothing but try to help this team win. They are not only building the team for the future but they want to win now as well. They want a guy who can come in and gel with the team and the offense as soon as possible. We all know that Dante had the offense simplified for him in Minnesota so how long do you think it's going to take him to learn this offense which is probably more complex? Trent Green already knows the playbook and has basically mastered it. In the same way that bringing in Frerotte/Dante because of their experience in Linehans offense it's the same thing with Trent Green. We cut alot of dead weight this offseason and added alot of bulk to our team so to speak. At the end of the season we didn't know if Dante could come back, who was going to come in if he didn't and who we had developing for the future, now we do. You can only do so much in one offseason but between Cam/Mueller they have done a tremendous job in overhauling the team. Can you really think when was the last time so much change occured? Jimmy Johnson maybe?

My understanding (read in one of the blugs) was that he was told before the meeting that he was going to be traded and such, but he chose to attend the meeting, forcing the announcement.

I heard something to that regard from a previous post.

Daunte has been his own worst enemy since last year when he declared that he WOULD start on opening day. Actually since he asked for more money and sent out E-mails to the media up in MN...

He could have been practicing in a Jaguars uniform already. The only person blocking this was him...

I'm tired of him, I just hope the rest of the players don't let it distract them...

I said it before and I will say it again. John Beck is the future quarterback for this team, not Culpepper or Green. The thing is that Beck will not start this season, and they need the best veteran to hold the reigns and to help teach Beck. That man is Trent Green, not Daunte Culpepper.

If there is a side to take, it is the Dolphins side. Culpepper is not who he once was, and this team is smart to realize that right now then try him again this season and have another year go down the drain. We shuffle QBs every year, but by dumping Culpepper and getting Green and Beck, that trend is likely over.

i dont support daunte i support the dolphins and will always support the dolphins

Green, Brown, Chambers, Hagan, Ginn, Schledge, Juggernaut, Thomas, Taylor, Porter, Cam.

Notice "the name who will be never spoken again" isn't part of that list of play makers. He is gone and that is that. Let's move on, shall we?

That Minnesota had to dumb down their playbook was the main reason I did not want him here in the first place. Most of my friends here are diehard viking fans that relocated to Denver. So, I have watched the vikings since Daunte got there. QB is the position where being able to grasp the concepts of the offense and interpret what the other team is trying to do is most important. He didn't really need to read defenses in Minnesota, he did have a great saftey valve: chuck it deep and let Randy catch up to it.

Whatever. I was a big Daunte fan but now I'm a Trent Green fan BECAUSE HE'S OUR FRIGGEN STARTER. Just release Daunte and get this over with. You one brushing a lot of fans makes you look really bad in my book Lee2000.

I feel bad for daunte they did not even give him a shot
Even though Cam said he would not cut a player if he has not seen what he could do in person.
