It was bad before Ross/Ireland...

Im not defending either of them but i dont think people remember the years prior to Ross and Ireland.

The thing is we were bad before both of these guys got here. Some of the comments some people make you would think the demise of this franchise is all because of these guys. If you look at the roster there is more talent on this team now than in 2006 or 2007.

First of all Ross didnt even hire Parcells/Ireland/Sparano. He took over this team after these guys were already here from a deal from Wayne. He has never really made a hire yet actually. Hes made his share of mistakes but hes new at owning an NFL team.

Ireland probably had alot of input when Bill Parcells was here but we all know Parcells had the final say until he distanced himself from us and Ireland had full control. I think hes done a decent job of adding some real talent to this roster(wake, dansby, marshall, reggie etc). Im not saying hes great by any means dont get me wrong, hes made his share of mistakes too and all GMs draft guys who never amount to anything. No GM hits on every draft pick. Im not saying hes free of blame but some of the Ireland hate on this site is just extreme.

The point of this thread is not to defend either of these two guys. Im just saying we were bad for years before both of them had anything to do with this team. Seems like some of you guys dont realize this. Think about all the coaching changes, different QBs and roster shakeups from year to year. This started way before Ross owned the team. Some of the people who post here make it out to be like these 2 guys alone are turning this franchise into a joke when in reality we sucked for a long time.

We need some stability. We need a long term HC. We need a franchise QB. This constant changing of HC/QB needs to end or we will never be successful in this league.

I think the only difference before Ross was that we were a very highly respected franchise. We basically were able to get anybody we wanted to come here. Jimmy Johnson, Nick Saban, and Bill Parcells were all big time names who were attracted to our team. They might not have worked out, but atleast if we wanted someone we got them.

Ross just seems to have a bad reputation around the league. The way he treated Sparano really hurt. Now it's starting to look like we are just being used as leverage for coaches to recieve more money for the jobs they want.

i agree and not only we are a day late and a dollar short on everything that we have been trying to do every since bk when we went after a FA QB , IMO we can have ALL the talent in the world and if not used right its not going to do us a bit of good , miami is becoming the laughing stock of the NFL ,ive been a fan and been watchin my team every since don strock was QB for us and we have been going down hill every since ,i cant belive carl peterson didnt step in and tell Ross that he is makin a BIG MISTAKE BY LETTING ireland run his franchise , imo i kinda doubt that we will even get a coach to come here by the way ross is running this team ,im just going to sit bk and watch this **** pan out ,imo and being serious ,we will be lucky to even get a nobody to come coach here ,ross might as well let ireland have the HC job because as long as ireland is running ross team we are screwed ,im serious were in real trouble ,and not just because we didntget Fisher ,but just look how the whole year panned out ,heres what im hopeing for now is that we get philbin,if he will even come here while Ross is letting ireland RUN the team.but we will be lucky to even get a coach .

why in the world would Ross want ireland to have final say over personnel, thats soooooooooooooooooo crazy imo i would want Fisher to have the final say ,and thats why fisher is not going to be coaching here in Miami hell why dont Ross just go ahead and name ireland new head coach because anybody anywhere knows that any coach wants to bring in there OWN players and personnel thats why cowher didnt come out of the booth think about it guys if you was going to be a head coach ANYWHERE would you want to bring in your own gm and cord both offence and defence ?ok Fisher was ok that ireland was staying But Ross took it to far when he wanted ireland to be over Fisher ,as i said ijust dont see nobody coming in and letting this go like Ross wants it to ,as i said in another thread Ross should just let ireland have the HC job because i see nobody trying to coach and being told what to do. as headcoaching job is just that , and imho there NOT HERE TO BE COACHED THERE HERE TO COACH.

No offense, but I didn't want Fisher to have final say over personnel. It is very rare when that situation works out.

Baltimore, Green Bay, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh all don't let the coach have final say. New England is a rare exception of it working, but even they haven't won a Super Bowl since Pioli left.

I don't think anything embarassing happened over Fisher picking the Rams over us. I don't think it makes us a laughing stock anyways. It just sucks because I'm use to this franchise getting "their" guy and obviously Fisher was the guy we've been targeting.

Hopefully Ross and Ireland get a good coach and we look back at this and laugh. A good hire will do a lot to erase the pain of losing Fisher to St. Louis

bk when marino was still playing miami has never let the GM have the final say over the coach and thats why shula was soo good and even in pitts greenbay exc. they dont let the GM tell the coach who to draft or who to cut and so on ,a head coach is just that there here to coach ,not to be coached.
