Think we'll go 2-2 in the non jet games. That puts us at 8 wins. Sweeping the jets gives us 10 and most likely playoffs. Anything less and we're out.

We've seen this movie before.

I disagree. Sweeping the Jets will be useless unless accompanied by a win vs the Ravens. Hard to imagine the Chiefs and Ravens not both reaching 10-6 if this occurs. And if the Ravens win the AFC North, it is unclear how the Dolphins would fare in a 10-6 wildcard tiebreaker involving the Browns or Steelers. Even Phil Simms said multiple times during the broadcast that 10 wins in the AFC this year guarantees nothing.

I guess it would be ironic if the 2-2 record in the non-Jets games included a win against Denver or New England with a loss to Baltimore. Having a more improbable win could end up costing the Dolphins if not allowing for a 3-1 record in the non-Jets games.

I'm with you there. Here's what I posted in a different thread earlier this morning:

"If we get to 10-6 and that includes beating the Ravens, and beating the Jets twice, we'll almost certainly make the playoffs. I hope."

We have to sweep the Jets and beat NE to get to 5-1 in the Division. Beating the Ravens should be enough in that scenario.

We need 4 wins. IMO we need to:

1. Find a way to beat Denver or NE on the road.
2. Beat Baltimore (WC competitor)
3. Beat the Jets once.
4. Beat the Vikings.

I don't think we can count on sweeping the Jets.

While I agree with your thought process, I think we absolutely have to beat the Jets twice.....and no, I don't think that is going to be easy. However, none of these remaining games will be easy, it is a matter of the most likely scenario.

What I would like to see.....is not having to sweep the Jets because we beat either the Broncos or Pats on the road. This team is capable of that......

This better not come down to one last game with the Jets where we have to win to get in... AGAIN.

The MNF game vs the Jets is scary. I'd rather that be a 1pm game. If we sweep the Jets I think we'll wound up at 10-6 because I think we either beat Denver on the road or more realistically beat Baltimore at home. The game @ NE is the the least likely game I expect us to win with NE having revenge on their mind.

If we can beat the Bills, we can sweep the Jets. The Jet's defense is not a s good as buffalo's. If we prepare, and come out with fire, we can sweep them. They simply are not that good right now. They caught the Steelers off balance, probably looking ahead.

if we control our own destiny going into the final game id sign up for that right now. win and in lose and youre out, ill take it.

I agree. First tiebreaker is conference record and "fortunately" the Dolphins have two non-conference losses. And a common opponents tiebreaker against Cleveland and Pittsburgh looks favorable assuming the Dolphins defeat the Ravens and sweep the Jets: the Browns lost to the Jaguars and the Steelers lost to the Jets. Plus the Steelers split with the Ravens and the Browns can at best split with the Ravens. Steelers still play the Chiefs at home, but it seems that the Dolphins still prevail. The Ravens game is monumental.

It's this simple:

Dolphins need to go 3-0 against teams they have no business losing to (Jests and Vikings). They need to go 1-2 minimum, probably 2-1 against the Patriots, Ravens, and Broncos. If they can't do that, they most likely miss the playoffs and don't deserve to be in it either.

One caveat. The common opponents tiebreaker requires 4 common opponents I believe. I assume if one team played another team twice, that scenario counts as "2" and not "1". If true, then it helps if KC defeats Pittsburgh to eliminate a 3-way tiebreaker should those teams and Miami all finish 10-6. Let KC earn its wildcard by virtue of their sweep against Pittsburgh and Miami so that Miami can earn their wildcard by winning a common opponents tiebreaker against Pittsburgh.

One other thought. Why isn't anyone worried about the Vikings? They are 2nd in sacks, should be 5-4 as they had the Bills beat. Then add 5 more starts by Bridgewater and perhaps AP in top- form. This game spells danger to me.
