I just had to start this thread. I'm sorry but the negotiations talks right now mean absolutely nothing and I'm near ashamed the way my fellow finheaven forum comrades are proclaiming any bit of information tied to their chosen draftee in waiting as that golden bit of knowledge that should convince the rest of us it is their guy who will get the honors of being the next Dolphin.

(5) Jake Long-two weeks till draft and we begin the final deal? Right, your kidding me. Jake Long should have a sign across his forehead saying "BAIT!". Why on earth would the Dolphins start negations now unless they were more interested in the tools created by negotiations. Those being to set a price to have undercut by the other players and have time to draw any trade talks. To me Long drops way down the list of possible 1st round guys.

(4) Gholston-same as J. Long. I'm not sold on the Dolphins feeling that LB/DE is their #1 need. I doubt anyone seriously thinks we would take him anyway.

(3) Chris Long-About every other Draft chart has C. Long being the pick but still he is at a position that isn't a big need. being a late bloomer (Sr season) and getting all the Howie Longs son "ink" I doubt will be something slips by Parcells like it has so many here. The predraft experts are selling Chris far more than Parcells sweet talking him can. I'm not a big believer in the "smokescreen" theory but the media is creating this one for the Dolphins.

About 5,4, and 3- these aren't impact players. These aren't impact positions. They may help the team but they are limited. We have half new ownership. We have entirely new front office. We have a fan base worn out with mediocrity..or worse. I'm not talking about the fans in here. I'm talking about that 80% fanbase that cares mainly about sports center highlights and buying the jersey of a playmakers. These factors will be involved far more than the people on these boards admit. It was less than 12 months ago when the Dolphins draft was booed by about 95% of the Dolphin Nation. That draft was the first and biggest step towards getting everyone associated with it fired. If Cam drafted Quinn, cam would still be Head Coach...even if Quinn failed miserably. The fans wanted Quinn.

(2) McFadden-I think everyone has written off McFadden to early. McFadden by most sources is the best player in the draft. He is a guy who was runner up for the Heisman 2 years which I don't think can be discounted because he played in the SEC. Heisman RB's are a "a risk" at being a bust in the NFL? No they aren't...not SEC and teams of the Big 12. If Chris Long has the most earmarks to figure he will be a bust McFadden is the opposite, played on a poor team in the toughest conference during his time in the SEC and still achieved more than any other. Mcfadden gear will sell like hotcakes, he is money, money, and more money to the franchise. And there will be plenty of balls to go around between him Ronnie, and Ricky during the time chewing drives such an offense will produce. And no it's not to much money. the position has Ronnie Brown (17th in RB's in cost against the cap...and Ricky who gets league minumum. The Dolphins currently spend a pittance in their backfield. We currently have McFaddens former OC on staff so it surprises me little we do not hear about interviews and meetings.

(1) Ryan- Despite what people think Parcells has a record with young QB's and has used two first round picks to draft the (Bledsoe, Pennington). Don't argue hat he had nothing to do with either pick because his signature is on the paperwork and you have no evidence otherwise. Also Bill was on the Coaching staff when the Giants drafted and started a Rookie, Phil Sims, who got rookie of the year runner up. Bledsoe also started as a rookie and did very well. In short Bill has experience around Rookie QB's and he has seen great success with them so it can't be said he won't play a young QB, which by the way only came out because Drew Henson who is where now? Maybe he just didn't chose to play that young QB. Much of the same can be said for Ryan as McFadden, Ryan will sell gear. Ryan will charge the fanbase, Ryan will help forget last years draft debacle. Ryan is rated very good to great from most the experts. He will buy the Coaching staff two years easily to build something which Cam didn't take into account. We currently have two QB's so we will be bringing in another. The Dolphins need a very good QB and not a adequate QB.

History has shown us:
Quinn was talked to first, J Russel last and drafted.
Rodgers talked to first, Smith last and drafted.
Bush was talked to first, Williams last and drafted.

My preditions for the #1 Pick

(most likely)-Ryan
(Next to most Likely)-McFadden
(Only if they get'em real cheap) Long, Long, Gholston

I'm not selling out Beck, truly. But if BP has any doubts I firmly believe he has more reasons to draft Ryan than not.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :shakeno::shakeno::shakeno::shakeno::shakeno::shakeno::shakeno::shakeno:

the last part of your ryan comments confused me. we drafted beck and he was a rookie so by your theory cam should have had 2 years.

Dude! i really appreciate the time and effort you put into this post, but all I can say is; You got to get over it, bro. It's almost sad.:boohoo:I admire the commitment though.

I just don't think that selling jerseys will be one of the criteria that will sway BP. if he takes Ryan or McFadden, it will be because they will help the team win, not because it will make the fans happy.

You lost all credibility when you said," (Next to most Likely)-McFadden". They didnt even hold a private workout for him. And if you know Bill Parcells ,he doesnt go for Running backs that high, EVER...

Is Matt Ryan worth the first pick in the draft??? No. The guy has more question marks than the Riddler.

Seriously they need to get off this guys jock. How is he supposed to throw the ball with no OLINE. The guy cant run. Has no arm. Noone projected this guy to even sniff the first round midway through season and now some are talking about him like hes TOM BRADY.

Honestly I like Chris Long, Jake Long and Vernon Gholston to be our pick, In fact I hope they sign them asap so everyone can stop this Matt Ryan LOVE FEST...

Just remember every good QB in this league started off with a decent Oline or better. Look at Peyton Manning, Brady, Brees, Derek Anderson... What happened to Brady when the pressure got to him in the Superbowl? HE SUCKED THE BIG ONE. So your statements >>>," About 5,4, and 3- these aren't impact players. These aren't impact positions. They may help the team but they are limited." mean nothing because this is a team sport. God isnt on the field and he isnt in this years draft Sorry...

As a matter of fact I hate Matt Ryan and am officially on the " I dont want Matt Ryan bandwagon" because none of you Ryan lovers have offered me any kind of valid insight that the guy has ultra potential. You all have persuaded me to hate him... Thank you

Come on be honest about it. Beck wasn't considered a franchise QB. I'm not going to say nobody, but I'm sure I could, on these boards targeted Beck as the Dolphins savior before the draft. He was plan "B", which I'm OK with. But given what little we saw last year plus the fact he really never "should" of been the guy you have to accept he is on a shorter leash.

Gotta hand it to the Ryan brigade keepin the dream alive in the face of such adversity.

If Beck was "plan B" they would have taken Quinn.

you start talks now to see if you can sign him so you do not have a holdout.
ask tom brady if the giants d-line had a impact
we will not draft ryan or mcfadden.

First I'm on nobody's Jock, you think who the Dolphins are going to draft and I think who the Dolphins are going to draft. This is the Draft forum, isn't it? What should I post?

The problem isn't our belief is any different. I just have a broader mind than you. It's not an offensive line that wins games, or defense. It's a team that wins games. Our offensive line looked good when Ronnie was playing well, they looked damn good. Our offensive line looked good when Gus was playing well a few years ago. Sometime you have to do the math, we haven't the skill players to help the line. we have one of the lowest paid offensive backfields in the league. We have one of the lowest paid receiving corps in the league. Think about it. You can lay blame on the skill guys and not just throw it in heaps on the lineman.
