People have been posting alot lately about who shoudl we get in the draft and I might as well post something similar. im posting it now so that I remember not to post it again around draft time.

If Leak is available to us I think Saban will pick him up with out hesitation here's why:

1) I remember when The NFL Network was covering the scouting combine they interviewed Alex Smith and he said he wouldnt mind going to Miami, because Scott Linnehan's system is similar to Urban Meyer's system, he said Meyer was Linnehan's protege (or it could have been vice versa I really dont remember).
That will give Chris an advantage since the 2 systems or similar and even if he holds out it shouldnt affect him much.

2) Saban knows the SEC and he knows what Leak can and cant do, Im sure he will be watching him this year.

3) Leak has a strong arm and hes accurate, also he can run when he needs to.

i was watching the texas - ohio st. game and one of the commercials said the patriots drafted diet pepsi machine and he looked awesome . just a thought maybe we could go after dr. pepper machine.

I could see us going for Leak. IMO our 1st rounder is gonna be a QB (we're better off at LT than we are at QB, I really think Carey could hold the fort at that spot if they move him back from RT). Leak or Reggie McNeal would be nice new weapons for Linehan to mold, I think.

i relly think we have two options

1.draft a ol in first round and get leak in 2nd

2.omar in first round

i like omar:D

The thing is, I don't believe that Leak will leave early for the draft. First of all, he made a promise to his mother that he would not leave college until he had earned his degree, and Leak isn't your typical star struck quaterback. I have a feeling he will honor this promise. Plus this is his first year in Meyer's system. If he were to leave now, teams and scouts would not get a chance to see his full potential because he isn't in that 2nd year comfort zone. By returning for his senior season, he would have that 2nd year comfort zone and will have every opportunity to show what he has.

Also I don't feel Leak is ready yet. I think he still has some progression as a Qb left before he will be ready to compete in the NFL. For the past two years, Leak has not said a word on the field. It was the center who called the plays and read the defenses and changed the plays. Until the arrival of Meyer, Leak has been the quite outsider on the team. He never even hung out with teamates.

It wasn't until the arrival of Meyer and his demand for Leak to be a strong vocal leader, that Leak came out of his shell. He is just now starting watch tape with his recievers, tell jokes, hang out with teamates and get onto his recievers when they made a mistake.

On a side note, I would love to get the center Mike Degory from Florida. This guy is a rock at center and regarded as the best of the SEC. He would be an outstanding addittion to our line.
