The 2002-2003 season were one of the most exciting seasons we had in a while. We finally had a Runningback and most of our players including Chambers and McMichael while being young they were also playing at a high level as well. We also cried about Jay Fiedler but if you took only one person away from that team and replaced that person then it would be Dave Pornstache.

It's very sad how he took this franchise to the ground. Look at the drafts from 2000-2004 and look at how he slowly massacred this franchise. He put a lot of young players in position to lose and go nowhere. Instead he rewarded bad performance with rich contracts. See Mcintosh, Chambers, McMichael and many others. How many players from Wanny's draft are starting other than Chambers? This man ruined this Franchise.

In those seasons if we had another Coach we would have probably gone to the Afc Championship at the most and at the least to the divisional Rounds. Sadly with this coaching staff it was not possible. We had Norv Turner with us Calling awesome plays but our players came badly prepared by Dave. We haven't made it to the playoffs in years now which was a rarity in Miami Decades ago just because we wasted 4 years of drafts.

We had Ricky Williams quit on our team because of him. I wouldn't want to play for him and allow me to end my Career like Wanny almost wanted. Between 2002-2003 in that span of 2 years, ricky ranks still as one of the runningbacks in history to carry the ball that much and only one man stands above him which is Earl Campbell. You should see Earl to this day to see the aftereffects of carrying the football as much as he did.

Nick Saban left us after 2 seasons but at least he gave us two good drafts that have filled almost 7 starting positions which is what I call good talent evaluation which is something Dave Pornstachio failed at.

Your thoughts?

What's so damned funny about it?

You can't put it all on Sir Moustache. Yes we had some bad luck with Ricky, but tell me, after Ricky ran for over 1800 yards were you pissed about the 2nd first round pick?
Wanny was a defensive coach and his drafting was pathetic. Passing on Brees in favor of Fletcher will go down as one of the biggest blunders in Dolphins history. But at least Wanny brought back some level of respect to this team, by mending the fence with Shula and some of the old timers (Marino included) that JJ threw to the curb when he got here.

Everything he did was horrible. Remember the Lobster Trap game? How stupid? He knew that we were gonna lose and didn't prepare like he needed to.

coupla thoughts... we aren't out of the woods yet and just may have another painful season in front of us

and I really do think Wanny tried hard, and really DID want to win, he is just to inept at this level to accomplish it. He wasn't evil like nick satan, just inept.

I agree. Wanny was just stupid. Not his fault .. Saban on the other hand was just an a-hole .

Its sad how we passed on Brees two times (that draft day and when signing Daunte over him) and he has proven to be an elite QB in the NFL with 2 different teams... :boohoo:

I prefer someone being evil and addressing our holes in the draft day for 2 years than an inept who tries to win (and never accomplish his mission) and throwing all of our draft picks for 4 years..., JMO.

Wanny was a terrible GM, no doubt about it. I blame JJ. He hand picked Wanny to be his successor and convinced Wayne to hire him and give him complete control. I think Wanny was a decent coach but was overmatched trying to do both jobs. IMO, JJ is given way too much credit for his 4 years with the Fins.

Let's examine where the Fins had the most problems in free agency in the Wanny/Spielman era - RB, QB, OL. Those are precisely the postions where JJ was a total failure in the draft. Count the failed picks trying to find a RB. That is why the Fins gave 2 first round picks for Ricky. JJ Johnson, John Avery, Cecil Collins, and Rob Konrad led to Ricky Williams.

The ridiculously bad offensive line left by JJ led to reaches for OL in drafts. The total failure by JJ to attempt to find a successor for Marino led to Fiedler, and Feeley.

The next time someone claims that JJ left behind such a great team, they should pull out the offensive depth chart for the Dolphins in 2000.

Wanny should never have been given the GM role. There should have been a GM in Miami in 1999. JJ was clearly melting down and couldn't hack it anymore.

If he had only tried to draft a Qb and and had a good GM who knows Wanny may have been looked at in a differant light. Sticking with a Qb that should have been a backup for 4 years made him quite worthy of being fired. Maybe choosing Huard over Fielder might have helped a little but not drafting Brees was the final straw.

well, that's ok, I suppose... if "I" had a preference, it would have been for a better coach myself.

I think satan had good drafts and this year starts the payoff.... imo.
