Reality check:

1. Gus Frerotte is quite an improvement over Jay Fiedler, as he's a better field general who commands more respect, he has a better arm, and he doesn't make those 1-2 bad passes every game like Jay seemed to make.

2. The O-line, while not having the greatest game last time, is improving. Hudson Houck will have these guys improving each and every week.

3. Wes Welker is turning into a LEGIT slot receiver who should be fun to watch.

4. Nick Saban is a VAST improvement over the former regime that will not be named here. You can EASILY tell this team is better prepared and motivated, and his defense is VERY fun to watch. You can tell the players LOVE playing for this guy and he's the best Dolphin coach outside of Don Shula already.

5. Linehan is BY FAR the best O-coordinator the Dolphins have had in at least 20 years. His schemes are FAR more imaginative than anyone going back to Gary Stephens and beyond, and Marino would have GUSHED playing in this system his last few years under Jimmy Johnson, rather than going out with Kippy Brown's offense.

6. Once this team gets over all the penalties - and you know they will with Saban - rather than the coach whose name will not be written here - we KNOW they'll beat up on the better NFL teams THIS year when the penalties (and turnovers) go down. And it's a given they will with this guy in charge.

7. Crowder and Daniels are exciting rookies to watch and our newcomers like Kevin Carter, Vonnie Holliday, Keith Traylor, and Donnie Spragan are great upgrades over last year! Jason Taylor, Junior Seau, and Zach Thomas are even rejuvenated and are playing their best ball now!

8. This team is on the verge of greatness once again, and within 2 seasons they'll be Super Bowl bound. Guaranteed! Ronnie Brown will prove he's the man very soon and this offense will be more efficient very soon, allowing this team with a great D to win 9-10 games this year and have us giddy about next year!

It's GREAT being a Dolfan these days!!! :D

Nice post.

But I was a FinsFan last season as well. Through the bad (actually...the ugly) and the good times...I will always be a FinsFan.

Go Fins!!!

When you really think about how bad last season was - and then consider the above, it kinda does make you happy to be a fan right now. Thanks!

It's about time someone posted something positive. I look foeward to every game to see the improvement. I have been a fan since the beginning and love watching them play, even the years when we weren't that good.

We have a good competive team that will get better. Let the coaches coach and the so called experts I ignore.

We will get better.

Let's face it - we thought the Fins would be good last year with Ricky Williams and David Boston on the team. Once they were gone, the season was over before it started. But we knew that would be a good team IF those guys were there.

THIS year we have more talent and better coaching, and some rookies to be happy about for the future - as well as guys emerging like Wes Welker. We're seeing the future NOW and with Saban shaping this team up, with a great offensive coordinator and O-line coach, the future is VERY bright and I need to wear shades! :cooldude:

We should just enjoy seeing the vast improvement of our team THIS year over last and know that we can play with anyone right now. With a couple tweaks here and there, we're not far away from being a 12 win outfit.

Besides - who on earth in this forum really expected an undefeated season or a Super Bowl THIS year? :goof:

We're moving on up and our team is exciting and on the rise!!! ENJOY!!! :drinkers:

And also - how EASY is it to be a fan of Gus Frerotte? With the O-line not ready yet, you can't help but be impressed by his poise, leadership, arm, and good decision making. NO DOUBT he's an upgrade over Fiedler and that's all we need at this time. With a better O-line and Ricky returning soon, I have no doubt the offense will be MUCH more efficient, and with our DEFENSE this year, we're gonna be VERY difficult to beat (once we stop with the penalties and turnovers and with Saban, that will end).

BE UPBEAT! I haven't personally been this excited since the Marino days!!!

I vote Nick Saban for President - NOW. Who's with me? The man is a godsend for us Dolphin fans!

The whole team has a positive feel to it That's why I don't understand the posters on this website. This has been the most psoitive the team has been since Shula. No dissention and no players with off the cuff comments.

I think the ones posting the negative are:
1) not fans at all
2) frontrunners
3) jumping on the bandwagon
4) just plain ignorant to the game of football
5) trolls

Hey guys, Im a new member here from Rochester, NY (bout an hour from the hated land of Buffalo). I'm gonna have to say after last season and the offseason mess that took place this season is looking up. Our coaching is much improved, granted my 18 year old sister would have been better than Wanny but Saban is going to turn this franchise around. Our receivers when they hold onto the ball are among the top core around. Oline still needs work, its been a weakness for god only knows how many years. Gus looks like a reliable force back there, hanging in there and willing to take a hit to make a play. Randy McMike played great against the Jets, both blocking and receiving (trying to hurdle over Jets defenders for a first down). Our D is are most consistent force on the team, every year we can count on them to perform to the highest level. This year is no different, however our secondary is a little shakey, but with time and experience will turn around. That leaves Ronnie ... he's a rookie running behind a not so great o-line... give him time to find his own, he was great at Auburn and trust Saban, he drafted him ahead of Caddy, there must be something there, and with Rickey coming back ... LOOK OUT

That's a good post, and I concur with you 100%.....

It sucks that we can't go undefeated this year, but I'll be happy with a winninging season just the same. This is a solid football team, and we'll be a tough team to beat every week in my opinion. Especially at home.....

I'm not worried, and to be honest, this team looks much better than I was initially expecting it to be going into the season. There's room for improvement, but it's starting to come together.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

I have to say, I enjoy watching Gus throw the ball. IMO he throws a nice ball. Has good mechanics, plenty of arm strength and throw a nice spiral. So refreshing after 5 years of watching QBs while looking through my hands on every pass attempt.

Gus is going to have some bad games, throw some INTs, because that happens. But I feel as though that position isn't the one that stops us from winning a game now. Give him any openings and he'll hit them...more you can say for Fiedler and Feeley.

Hey evryone, I'm new here so please be gentle. I just want to say that we need to look at the long term and be positive about this whole thing. We have been spoiled for so many years that now that we are struggling we just don't know what to do but whine. We are not far from being a great team as long as we stay healthy and develop some kind of consistency. Anyways, GO FINS we are the best the is was and ever will be.
