It appears that the biggest excuse I "hear" on why the Dolphins are currently such a bad team is becuase of their poor drafting over the past few years coupled with free agents not panning out. I disagree we have had tons of talent its the coaching that we have been missing. A coach shows up wants to reshape the team with a certain size and type of player and lets the current talent slip away. Zach certainly fits that mold currently. Below is a list of former Dolphins whom played in the Super Bowl this year and there are many more other thoughout the NFL. Just a point to bring up as this time of year everyone looks at the draft and free agency as a cure all.

A look at the 11 former Dolphins who are in the Super Bowl and how they departed Miami:

Giants: CB Sam Madison, Free agent not re-signed before '06

Giants: OL Grey Ruegamer, Drafted in '99, cut in 2000

Giants: DL Manny Wright, Cut in 2007 offseason

Giants: RB Reuben Droughns, Spent one month on practice squad in 2001

Pats: RB Kyle Eckel, Waived in '07 training camp

Pats: FB Heath Evans, Starter cut in Sept. '05

Pats: LB Larry Izzo, Free agent not re-signed before 2001

Pats: OL Billy Yates, Undrafted FA in '03, cut in '04

Pats: WR Wes Welker, Traded for 2nd-round pick in '07

Pats: RB Sammy Morris, Free agent not re-signed before '07

Pats: LB Junior Seau, Acquired in '03 trade, not re-signed before '06

Keeping every single one of these guys would have made a minimal difference in the success of this team. By getting rid of them they shed cap room and brought in younger fresher talent at those positions for the most part.

Besides, most of these guys we didn't even draft.

Besides Welker... NONE of those players are significant...

If our personell moves were so bad then why are so many of our formers players playing some where else now? They are playing on winning teams too not 1-15 teams too!!!

Of these guys, the only one we drafted that was any good was Madison and he is over the hill. Welker we signed as an undrafted FA, and traded for a 2 and a 7.

They may be playing on winning teams... that doesn't mean they are the reason the team is winning.

Madison, Junior and Evans would have help last year. The 2 OL may have as we had huge issues at guard!

Ya, but its because those players you mentioned went to good teams that had talent surrounding them. If all those players you mentioned went to bad teams, they wouldn't have made much of a difference. Do you think Welker would have had the same impact on the Falcons last year as he did on the Patriots? I hardly doubt it. That doesn't mean it was wrong for the Dolphins to get rid of those players or most of them. They just happened to sign with the right teams that makes them look better than they really are.
