The OL looked horrible.............there is no sugar coating it.........and if they play that bad the fins aint gonna win 5 games.

Your football knowledge is obviously lacking...

The O-line did a good job last night...the blitz problems were a couple of things.

A.) I'm pretty sure when Houck and Linehan were putting in protection packages they did'nt think the Bears would throw every blitz they have at them down after down.

B.) The unit was playing it's first game together.

C.) The running backs (Lamar Gordon especially) need to pick up some blitzes. Saying every protection problem is the offensive line's fault might be the biggest myth in football.

Truly, my god we were winning 24-10 going into the 4th quarter, the players playing in the 4th quarter last night won't be on NFL rosters in 4 weeks, so who cares if they scored 17 4th quarter points?
Were you actualy happy with the way the starters and second team played? Forget the 4th quarter, hell forget the whole 2nd half. Do you realy think that as a whole, the team played well that first half? Or were there areas that concerned you?

I don't really see it that way, Chicago came with constant blitzing which jammed our running game and disrupted out passing game, I'll give Saban and Houck and few weeks to work out the blitz pickups and to actually gameplan against our opponent before I panic.

It was clear to me Chicago was more concerned with trying to not be embarrassed versus pure talent evaluation.

I must admit, during the game I was having bad flashbacks of painful memories watching DT drop that pass and our DB's get scorched. But perspective is key and this our time to work those things out. There were definitely some good things to take away. And the problems/ question-marks we saw in terms of o-line and corner (qb too) are not unexpected. Those were our main question areas coming in and we have groups who have not played together as a unit due to health and position reshuffleing. We still have time.

EXACTLY!!! Horrible... doesnt matter who is throwing the rock, if he has 2 seconds to throw off his back leg it's not going to matter much

Are you serious? They had absolutely NO push when it came to the running game. As a matter of fact I saw Hadnot get pushed into the backfield at least twice. I agree that they were decent in pass protection especially when you consider that they did not scheme against the Blitzes. However, if they can't run block effectively the offense becomes one dimensional. And a one dimensional team with mediocre QB's doesn't win many games.

I saw him stand there and on at least 2 occasions while rushers broke through, essentially untouched. That was pretty disappointing for a guy who is supposeed to be a well rounded back and may very well start on opening day.

Yeah, our starting unit stunk... oh but Ricky looked great, almost double digits. He needs another 15-20 asap

I saw a team with good talent that has only had two weeks of training camp, that is still adjusting to a new system, both offensively and defensively, new coaches, players that have been moved to new positions like Carey and Hadnot that are still getting adjusted.

I saw a team that didn't gameplan for Chicago's constant blitzing that wasn't comfortable enough yet to make them pay dearly for that tactic.

So yes, all in all, considering we were still on top of them, I'm happy with what I saw in this first pretty meaningless game.

Now if I see no progress in the 4th game against Tampa where we'll be seeing a similar defense, where we will gameplan Tampa, It will be more concerning then.

IT WAS A ****ING PRESEASON GAME!

THE FIRST PRESEASON GAME!!!

W.T.F. did you expect? The mid-90's Cowboys O-line?

Dude....in every thread on this board you hjave been one of the WORST for over stating the importance of the scrimmage that happened last night.

How many times did they run the ball? 21 times...and only 10 times in the first half. I'm not trying to make excuses...I'm being realistic. The running game is something that gains momentum as the game moves on. The running backs were getting shuttled in and out, the starters on the O-line barely played a quarter...

The lack of a running game would concern me....if this were the 4th preseason game (or whatever game Saban lets the starters play into the 3rd quarter).

The lack of a running game does'nt concern me in the least right now. Our best tailback has'nt signed, our 2nd best tailback was playing for the first time in 20 months. The O-line knows how to run block...they just did'nt do enough of it last night to get into a groove.

I'd MUCH rather see the Phins work on the pass protection during the preseason games. The tailbacks need to protect the passer...blaming every issue with pass protection on the O-line is rediculous.
