well its safe to say we're not a playoff team so the real question is do we keep pennington in there who does give us our best chance to win now or do we look towards the future and give henne the reps this year...i personally think we should put henne in there and see what we have with him...we need major help in the draft because its obvious we have a ton of holes on the defensive side of the ball...we couldn't force joe the stiff flacco into making any mistakes...the guy coming into this game had thrown 7ints and we made that clown look like a pro bowler 17/23 for 230+ and a td...then you got phyllis mcgahee who's one of the softest backs in the league and he comes out in the second half and runs the ball down our throat...if we're going to be a winning team next yr and the coach wants to keep pennington in there our only chance is to somehow get a lock down d and try and be like the titans

yes, it is.... but then again I have been saying that for a few weeks now. Talent wise we are a 5 or 6 win team (IMO).

The two wins over good teams made us inflate our expectations. That is why people are reacting so negatively on here. Now that we are back in the gutter, it is back to being a rebuilding team that has shown flashes.

Too many people were way too optimistic. This team was bad, REAL bad last year. Winning against the Pats and Chargers was huge for confidence to erase a lot of last year but this team is average. They're on the way up, though.

Yes and anyone who is realistic should have known that from the beginning. We are making improvements but it will take time. Just because we manhandled NE and SD doesnt mean we were ready for the next step. As 13 Dolfan states, alot of us were too optimistic. We are going to win some games but no more than 8 this year. I have no problem with that considering how Wanny destroyed this team, then Saban left us, and Cam.....well I dont need to say much there. We have the right people running the show now. We all need to give it some time.

If we keep playing like we did yesterday, we'll be lucky to win another game all season.

The highs are too high around here and the lows are too low. I didnt think we were a playoff team before week 1 or after week 1. I didnt think we were a playoff team when we got to 2-2. And I certainly don't think it now.

If you watch other teams in the AFC, you can clearly see we are not quite on the level of being a playoff contender. We're just not. The good thing....we're rebuilding. I think that eases my mind and helps deal with the losing. Right now I wanna see improvement and see the young guys making an impact. And I dont know about you guys, but I am seeing good contributions from the young talent.

Throwing Henne in there is NOT going to make us better. All it will do is make you guys that want him, turn on him like you turned on Beck after screaming for him to play last year. If Henne starts this year, HE WILL LOSE TOO!!!! Henne has the talent and the confidence upstairs. Let's get some more pieces in place before throwing him out there. If he has twice the talent around him, his confidence will stay way up there. If you put him in with this supporting cast, you might just make him wonder at times if he is really a winner. Patience is a virtue. WAIT!!!

I agree with that, however, we will not play like that the rest of the year. Sparano will not let that happen. Maybe some games but not all. I still think 7 to 8 wins is realistic. Probably 5 if Ferg is on the shelf. Stopping the run is key and I think we can all agree we cant stop it without Ferg clogging up the middle. Hope he is not out too long.

I admit, I was excited after the win over the Pats. And then after the win Over the Chargers I thought we could have a shot to sneak into the playoffs in a weak AFC conference (even today, the six 'wildcard contenders' - Pats, Jets, Ravens, Jags, Colts, and Chargers - all only have 3 wins). The Giants, and Eli Manning especially, looked pretty bad at the beginning of 07 too....you can see what that meant for them.

But yes, I agree, we are not a playoff team. I let myself become too optimistic and that made yesterday's loss even harder. After last year though....I can take anything.

For those of you who didn't want to get too excited and preach to those of us who do:

I was able to dream big for 3 weeks, from Sep. 21 until Oct. 11. That's the happiest I've been as a Dolphin fan since our 6 game winning streak in 2005. Do I regret being overly optimistic and having those hopes crushed yesterday? Hell no, I still had a great 3 weeks!

We can't get into the playoffs with a weak secondary (DBs) and no WRs ... not to mention STs.

Our only hope would have been to have a stifling defense .... which we know we don't have. Front 7 isn't bad ... and will get better -- but they just can't make up for the secondary. They aren't and won't be 'that' good.

We are 60-65 % there right now ... next season we'll be around 80-85% there.

No offense bro but Duh!! I have been getting bashed the past few weeks warning about cooling down all the playoff talk. Nice post. Its gonna take a while.
