It was frustrating to hear the announcers today comment on how Miami struggled this year, pondering what was different compared to last year without even mentioning the fact that WE NEVER HAD OUR STARTING QB THIS YEAR!

It wasn’t the first time we’ve seen this during games, announcers dissmissing Tannehills place as a “franchise” QB For this team.

And here’s why it really pisses me off. Today the announcers also pointed out Cutler completed only his second pass of 40+ yards. Second! And it was off a screen.

The simple fact is Cutler never found his deep ball all season. Through 15 games he had 27 20+ yard completions and 2 40+ yard completions.

Last year Ryan had 37 20+ yard completion and 11 40+ yard completions. And that was just through 12 1/2 games.

Ryan took advantage of the run game and made big plays for this team. Ranking top 5 on the deep ball overall. Cutler was useless in this department.

So I don’t now about you but I’m counting down the days for Ryan to return. He made sure the offense took advantage of its opportunities. And that to me is the difference between 10-6 and 6-10.

Countdown to 17 in 18 begins.... now.

No defense respected our ability to throw over the top this year. They knew they could commit at the LOS and not worry about Jay making them pay. And they were right.

What was funny about it? I used to make fun of quarterbacks like [name redacted to prevent flame war on Christmas] for being such inconsistent throwers of the football that they'd frequently put screen passes in the dirt. When Jay Cutler puts one into the freaking stands, I'm not going to be a hypocrite.

What's disturbing is that the Dolphins want to bring him back as the #2 quarterback/insurance next season. The only kind of insurance Jay Cutler offers is the guarantee that you're going to be mad at your television set.

It's funny.....because if you didn't laugh, you would simply cry.

listen, when your head coach takes a guy who retired you get what you get...all on Gase. Cripes, Cutler blew when he was in Chicago not retired. I was at the Fins/Bears at Soldier in 2015ish and the home crowd killed him. Fins won easily but Cutler was booed until he walked off the field.

I like Tannehill, but it's funny that people are talking about his deep ball after dogging him about it for years.

BTW, Tannehill had 37 passes for 20+ yards, but only completed 16 passes that were thrown more than 20 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. He only threw 128 passes all year that were thrown 10 or more yards beyond the line of scrimmage (and of those, 10 were intercepted).

He's not a great deep thrower. He's okay. It's not like we will be slinging it much downfield with him next year.....but I do agree that he's much better than what Cutler can do. Tannehill back alone doesn't solve our offense. And if our line isn't any better, Tanny just going to get hurt again anyway.

Ehhh our line has actually been okay-ish this year. It could definitely improve, but it wasn't pure garbage.

The fumbles, offside penalties, getting beat over the top, and Cutler were all factors in us sucking. I believe in Tannehill, but there is a lot going wrong right now

Yes, it is all on Coach Gase. We won 6 games instead of the two or three we would have won with “I cannot process formations, blitz looks, and any mental exercise required of a NFL QB”. Moore. Watching defenses fool him and crush him is just painful to watch.

It's fair to blame Gase for bringing in Cutler. The only thing I will say in defense of Gase on Cutler is that he gambled on Jay's shoulder after his surgery last season, and while Cutler actually did hold up for 16 games there, the fastball is gone.

At the time, I think the gamble was reasonable. We didn't get the worst case scenario, but we certainly didn't get the best one, either.
