theres a difference between taking a risk and just doin something plain stupid. Going all in for RG3 would be very stupid, especially for a new head coach. I would consider it with Luck or maybe even Matt Barkely but RG3 worries me as far as translating to the NFL. RG3 has the stats, the heisman trophy, the whole hype, but I have other serious concers.
1) his health and his size, He has Mike Vick type size and type playing style, takes a lot of hits and consequently, Vick is always hurt. I dont want to to invest that much into a guy who cant stay healthy, he doesnt have the Cam Newton size, no where near it.
2) Is he 100% committed to playing football?
When you go all in on one player, you better be sure that this player is a game changer, Franchise, elite QB. Theres a reason why not many teams trade the farm for one player (See Mike Ditka) Ricky Williams was great......for us.....for a year, thats about it.
I would rather see us sign Peyton Manning (IF healthy enough to play) make a strong push in the playoffs and hopefully make it to the super bowl. I do NOT want to draft a QB this year in the 2nd or 3rd round just to draft one and "settle" for 2nd rated QB's, I dont want to go thru more wasted seasons like we did with Henne. If we draft a QB we need to draft the best, in the first round. We may have to be paitent, some years QB's fall in the draft (Aaron Rodgers, Dan Marino). We need to try to plan better for next years draft to get in better position for a top rated QB.
for example, say we sign Manning this off season, we trade our current first round pick to some random team like the Cowboys or some team who wants to move up and in return for their furture 1st round pick. now we have two first round picks in 2013 and could possibly have a better shot at gettin an elite top rated QB, like Matt Barkely.
