INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana football coach Terry Hoeppner died Tuesday of complications from a brain tumor, a university spokesman said. He was 59.

Well he had already steeped down for the 2007 campaign and Lynch the asst. was named intern, but now he will prob. get it permanantly.

The feeling I got was that he may actually coach agian in 2008, So I don't think they knew for a couple of weeks

This is a shame.
Also there is a lot of pain from the University of Miami (the non-Canes one). In the last year three of their former coaches, Hoepner, his predecessor Randy Walker, the coach at Northwestern, and the legendary Bo Schembechler all have passed away.

Hep was a great man and was turning the corner with a program that has had little to cheer about in the last 15 years. He made the students want to come to the games and got a dismal fan base to show up to "the rock" on Saturday afternoons.

I dont know....they just announced like a week ago that Lynch would be the coach for 2007, but either way, it sucks.

Hoeppner was a class act who was loved my players and fans alike. I would love nothing more then for Indiana to have some success and dedicate it to Hep's memory. Rest in peace Coach Hoeppner, you will be missed.
