Ive figured it out, everyone who keeps complaining about the picks...

oh please.....stop bashing the people that wanted a QB for christ sake.

I haven't complained, but I've been suprised with a few picks.

However, if we would've drafted Rodgers or Smith, you'd be crying incessantly, so you have no room to talk

Really? I said all along I would respect any pick he made in the 1st.. I would have been fine with Rodgers/Smith and wouldve have hoped the best, but I had a strong feeling that Saban didnt view them as difference makers, and it appears to me quite obvious that he didnt, Rodgers at least.. I wasnt referring to you Dudeman, so dont get on me.. but I have seen several of the comments associated with the bitching referring specifically to the QB situation.. I am bashing noone, just making an observation.

The plain fact is, the QBs are reaches and not clear improvements over what we have.

If Saban had the 2nd overall pick last year, I DO believe the pick would have been a QB.. Probably Roethelisberger. And I would have been all for it! This year's QB crop leaves alot to be desired though.. And all the irrational Feeley hatred is getting to everyone's head making them chant "QB QB QB!" no matter how crappy they are.. If you dont like Feeley, why spend a 2nd or 3rd on another crappy QB when you can get 1st round talent to make our D NASTY?

I'm pretty mad we didn't take Elton Brown. I felt he was the best lineman available and would have been a solid addition for years to come. If Daniels can play the S, I'm more satisfied even though I liked Shazor...we have a bad position in the 5th round and no 6th rounder so our draft steam is slowing down...we don't have the luxury to take QBs, WRs anymore

True, but I think the thing Saban IS doing, regardless of his feelings for Feeley is that he isnt REACHING for QBs that are NOT clear improvements over him.. Instead he is picking SOLID, potentially studly guys.. I commend him for that. I think 4 years from now, Travis Daniels will be alot more useful than Kyle Orton, who will probably be out of the league.

I agree. What he's doing is neither an endorsement or an indictment of Feeley. He's just doing what needs to be done to make this team better. I'm in the group who thinks we gave up too much for Feeley, but he could still turn out. The guy had one year with no running game, behind one of the worst lines in the history of the NFL. It would be foolish for Saban to reach for a QB without first coming to his own conclusion on Feeley.

Thats what Im saying... Im pulling for Feeley, but I am in no way sold on him regardless of what people say.. I just feel people have been WAY too quick to throw him in the trashcan considering what position he was put in.. And there truly was no clear improvement at QB in this draft.. at least not enough to warrant passing on guys with 1st round grades.

Some of you act like stating displeasure on the message board shouldn't be done. I'm sure you guys haven't agreed with everything the Wanny did and expressed it so why can't others do the same now? Another thing that is contradictory when people didn't like the 2nd and 3rd picks and the argument was "First Round Talent" now when a lot more people don't like the 4th pick and thought better players (and a bigger need) were available the argument is "Well those other guys slipped for a reason" Its amazing people are complaining about "complaining"

No.. Daniels carried a 2nd/3rd grade/

So why was he there when so many other teams were snatching up CB's? I'm sure you would agree that in these late rounds you never know, I hope he turns out to be Ronny Lott but I think O, in particular o-line, needs to be addressed. Like many have said, we take Brown and if we get him no help up front whats gonna happen?

Want a QB! At least the majority, I can understand some grumbling over the latest pick, but Corner/S IS a need for us.. and Travis carried a 2nd round grade I believe..

But it seems most of the outrage is of people holding out hope for a QB..

First it was Smith/Rodgers.
Then it was Frye/Walter.
Now it was Orton.

Im seeing comments like, "We still have a QB who throws INT after INT!" with the rantings.. The thing people dont understand, none of the QBs in this draft are a clear improvement.. Why reach for a QB when you can get SOLID, potentially, GREAT picks in all the rounds?

Haha. I was wondering this morning where all the "Saban has no confidence in Feeley" mongers were. If that was the case you'd think he'd take QB in the early rounds. Must be some really upset Phin fans today.

I agree, and I stated, the last pick could be questionable, I too think we need OL help, but, I am not the coaching staff.. Houck has worked magic everywhere, and if he felt that the OL was truly that dreadful, I am pretty sure Saban would do his best to get him good players on the OL. I think Houck believes he can make these guys servicable.. I still want a C though.

I don't think this means Saban is totally sold on Feeley yet. He may just be waiting thinking we can get Leinert next year. Who knows? All that matters is in the course of 2 days our D has become significantly younger, and that was something that had to happen.

:roflmao: You gotta be kidding

Bingo!!

What happen to everyone understanding that this wasn't going to be a "quick fix" I mean, I know most of us said we'd be patient, most of us said we'd give Saban 2-3 years, but now everyone is expecting us to get our next starting QB in the 4th round, or great WR or Center. I know these are areas of need, but, you can only do so much in one draft/free agency. Remember people, we have another whole draft and free agency again next year, and with the money made free in the Surtain trade, we can go out and do some things next year as well as draft some more "reasonable" players in those positions. Saban is drafting for 2 years from now, 3 years from now, as well as what is best for this teams immediate future. Everyone wants this thing fixed yesterday, it's not going to happen that way, you start with a plan. The Patriots won 5 games in Bill's first year there, but ya know what, he had a plan, and it wasn't drafting players in late rounds that weren't likely to make his team. It was drafting the players that most likely WOULD make his team. I know it's a weird concept, draft best player available, rather than for a need that probably will be average at best. But, tell me, how's it working out for teams like Philly, New England, and the Chargers? Ronnie Brown wasn't JUST a need, he was the best player available. What does it matter if we got Brown, if we got Orton, if we got McPhearson if non of them were good enough to contribute in this league?

I hope we dont draft a qb because then all season we will have to read all these peopel's posts about how that guy should be starting. We could grab a qb in the 7th round and they would still be pushing for him to start.

i wasn't too happy with the Roth pick, but hey, i just think we need to draft Offense considering our Offense is ten times worse than our defense. We need OL and WR still. We're pretty deep at DE, so the Roth pick is a head scratcher.

Then we go LB and CB.... fine, but we need DT more than LB and CB.... but i'm tired of us always drafting defense. I yearn for the days where we can have an explosive offense again.
