Iverson signs with Memphis

Chris Wallace is not a very smart man.I'll never understand this.And wow Iverson and Zach Randolph together?Why Allen why?Go to a scrub team so you can start,rather than be a 6th man on a contender.Just plain stupid!

 
This was not a general manager's move. This was the ownership looking to sell tickets.....something Iverson is still very capable of doing. The Randolph move on the other hand....that one is simply mind boggling.
 
Selling tickets and winning go hand in hand..It'll be interesting to see how this team plays...With that lineup who passes the ball?Do you have Marc Gasol at PG?

And Allen Iverson is still THAT much of a draw??Riiiight.Up until now no team could use him.A team like Memphis is going to need to win.Nobody in this economy is yearning to see Allen Iverson and a bunch of scrubs play trust me.Ok maybe OJ Mayo.

A team like GS is in a sports town,they have the likes of the Raiders,9ers,A's,and Giants..People there,once football season is over,tend to gravitate to basketball more no matter if the team is winning or losing.The same can't be said for Memphis.They need more help than just an aging,broken down Iverson.
 
The man spends half a season on the bench and has the 5th highest selling jersey in the NBA.....above the likes of Wade, Pierce, and Shaq. He is that popular. The ownership sees $3.5 mil as money well spent, that will be recouped in merchandise and ticket sales with ease.

As for why noone was interested in signing him......well that should be pretty obvious. Most teams are run by general managers who are looking to improve the team, not generate cash.
 
Memphis will be just as lackluster as they have been.They don't have a good team.We'll see if this puts people in the stands.I wouldn't hold my breath.Memphians are a hard to please class of people.
