I have heard nothing to date about our 7th round draft pick, JD Folsom. He has the reputation of being extremely smart - how is he going at training camp?

Obviously he is not standing out.

I think for these younger guys, you have to wait and see what they do during actual game time during the preseason.

I seen him get manhandled the first day of camp. Not sure how he is doing now

i say he is going to the practice squad

And obviously that isn't always a terrible thing. Yes, you want your linebackers to make plays (as you do for many of your players). However, in training camps especially you'll hear a lot about two kinds of players:

(1) players who have a lot of hype or focus on them coming into camp, such as Taylor, Wake, White, Davis, Smith, etc. and...
(2) players that look horrible or are continuously out of place or getting beat (so far, under this category we've had Jason Allen, Will Billingsly, etc).

J.D. is a 7th round pick and is likely not going to make the 53 man roster. Chances are, as mentioned earlier, he'll end up on the practice squad. But c'mon man, you've got to have standouts AND players who do little things behind the scenes to make a good team. Every player can't just play all-pro each year. Cut the rook a little break:buds:

Per Omar... "I also watched rookie ILB J.D. Folsom struggle against everyone he faced. He's struggling."

He's undersized to begin with no?

What about LB Orion Martin? How's that kid doing?

Both are struggling form what I hear. I was thinking that Martin might be our sleeper pick this year but he is playing a new position ILB. Not sure what they saw in Folsom undersized, small school and an older rookie. Folsom has many head wins working against him. We do need ILB help too as Crowders kness are creaky and he rarly makes a entire year. When he went out last year the entire defense missed him. Tobor cannot replace him at this point. I kind of expect to see the OLB, DT and ILB positions get addressed early in next years draft.
