They were interviewing Jack at the memorial golf tournament and he mentioned he had been a Fins season ticket holder since day 1. His grand son Nick O'leary who was also a Dolphin's fan growing up was drafted by the Bills so Jack will have divided loyalties when we play them.

I remember in the movie "Blood and Iron", Nicholson is getting razzed by a guy who said something along the lines of "(Jim) Kelly is going to go up and down the field all day tomorrow on your Dolphins!", to which Nicholson replied, "Not going to happen!" He might have suggested they make his character a Dolphins fan.

Wrong jack endorphins lol but easy mistake to make.

(facepalm) I need a nap...lol.

Don't feel bad. We were at Grand Central Terminal summer of 2009 and the Golf Channel had an exhibit there promoting the US Open which was being played that week at Bethpage. Jack Nicklaus was there being interviewed by them and then he signed autographs. My niece called her Dad and kept saying that we were standing next to Jack Nicholson, and that Jack Nicholson had signed her jacket. Her Dad couldn't believe she could screw up his name. Me either! She didn't hear the end of it for the rest of the day.

There was an episode of the Simpsons where the family goes to play mini golf and Homer can't get the ball through a lighthouse or windmill or something and he shouts in frustration "even Jack Nicholson couldn't make this shot" - obviously it's a common mistake to make. All good :)

I saw that interview. CBS insists on touting its Thursday night NFL schedule during the golf telecasts every weekend. Nicklaus happened to be in the booth this time, as host of the tournament. Jim Nantz mentioned the O'Leary angle. Nicklaus said he has been a Dolphin season ticket holder since Day 1, but he agreed with Nantz that now his loyalties within the AFC East will take a shift, at least somewhat.

It's hardly confined to the Dolphins. The Nicklaus family has been huge supporters of the Miami Heat, and often shown on TV near courtside during the Lebron era. Barbara Nicklaus (Jack's wife) has probably talked about the devotion to the Heat more than anyone in the family, describing how nervous they get while watching the games. That family is huge, with so many kids and grandchildren, most of them remaining in the West Palm Beach area.

When I was a teenager I remember Jack's two eldest sons traipsing around Doral during the annual PGA tournament and occasionally causing trouble. One year they literally climbed the TV tower behind the 15th green and started shaking it. This was smack during the final groups on Sunday. The tournament officials went nuts and eventually got them down. I remember one of the officials saying in frustration that they deserved to be kicked off the premises but there was no way to do that, considering who they were related to.
