First and foremost..heres an article on the Jags D. I was impressed.

Now...Im not sure if they play a D that likes to blitz alot. However..with the swagger they carry, they dont seem like a team willing to let many teams score pre season or not. I think the starters will look to **tch slap our team around just for fun.

So, that being the case. What do we look for in our starting O line and Offense. If we can open up some running lanes against that interior tandem...we will have taken a big step forward. Obviously we need to give our QB's time. They have good blitzing linebackers...and they create pressure with their line itself. I think our guys will have their hands full Sat. So on the whole...I just want to see improvements. I think at times..we may look silly out there. But like last Monday..lets see if we can make adjustments. I thought we did a pretty good job of adjusting to the bears blitzing as the game wore on.

On D....We need to seriously put a clamp on these guys right from the beginning. They arent a very good offense. We will see very little Fred Taylor. Leftwich is a big boy who can chuck..but we should be able to line up with them. Its going to be interesting to see the enigma Matt Jones. Big boy who can fly. In fact both of their recievers, Jones and Reggie Williams are big. The Jags fired their OC from last year..and want to go with a more vertical passing attack to match up with Leftwichs strengths. That means pressure on him will be crucial..as we dont want to give him time to set up and chuck it down field for his recievers to go up and get. Look for a little more blitz package from Saban with the starters.

I agree with most of your points. The interior line sucked last week against the Bears, as a continuation of their suckiness last year. This week, they can't get away with fooling around, because the interior of the Jags' DL is seriously good. They are better than anything we've had since Tim Bowens and Daryl Gardener were both in their heyday. We will get a stiff stiff test this week.

I'm going to review tape of the Bears game tonight...because I keep hearing "Carey struggled against Alex Brown" yet I only remember seeing ONE freaking play where he actually struggled and on that play Carey recovered in time to smash Brown into the dirt and Feeley didn't even know what happened (he stepped up on his own, not because Brown was coming after him). The only negative that came from that play was Feeley had no escape route away from Urlacher...but honestly to me it looked like Feeley was going to get smashed by Burlach whether he had an escape route or not.

The secondary was a mess. I don't need to review to know that we had guys getting beat. I also don't need to review the QBs because I know how they did (though I may take a look at the average distance of their pass attempts...even though I don't have tape of any games last year to compare to). The RBs did what they did

Out of Nowhere Man
WR
Chad Owens

When the Jaguars selected Chad Owens in the sixth round of the April draft, they did so with the idea he would be their top return man. He's been much more than that. Owens has displayed quickness and an ability to get down the field in the passing game, and could actually get on the field as a receiver in some passing situations. Owens has been the surprise of camp. As a return man, he is expected to give the Jaguars an explosive threat. This kid was a big-time player at Hawaii, but at 5-7 many scouts thought he was too small to play in the NFL. That is a mistake. Owens is a keeper.

It's like their version of Wes Welker, only with a bit more speed and not quite the instinct. He was fun to watch at Hawaii. Gotta love the guys my height.

People love cheering for the little guy.
