Jags waiting on Grievance before trading for Daunte

The Jaguars won't give up a draft pick for Daunte Culpepper until his grievance with the Dolphins is heard, according to ESPN's John Clayton.

Culpepper will have the grievance heard on June 29. The Jags want to see if he's released by Miami before surrending a pick. The Dolphins' front office is also on vacation this week, so it appears no movement is imminent.

Hopefully Duante loses the grievence and Cam and Mueller get a pick for him. It also seems like the Jags are serious about Daunte.

I know it's not necesarily a good comparison, but I can see why the Vikings coach compared him to TO when the Vikings ditched him...

What's more, I can already see the controversy that will grow around him like a cloud once he is wearing a Jags unifrom. He will immediately cause some guys in the locker room to start picking sides & the local sports media people will start that emotional BS that they sooo love to do ...

Thanks for the info. I used to be a Daunte supporter (banner in my sig and all), but I just can't believe that after we gave up a #2 pick and $8 million, how he can be so ungrateful. He should thank us that we paid his a$$ that much money alone to sit on his rear-end for 2 years, not to mention the freakin' 2nd round pick we lost!

P.S. Get over yourself Daunte Culpepper. You're not that good anymore. Break a leg. (movie talk :D). Good luck elsewhere.

I hope the Phins win this one not only for the team, but to not set what would could become a very ugly precedent around the league.

Culpepper is a primadona. We warned and instead alot of us gave him the benefit of the doubt. Im sick of Daunte.

Daunte will almost certainly lose this hearing. Even so Im not sure the Jags deal. We will almost certainly release him if a deal cant be met, and there isnt exactly a bevy of teams beating down his door to steal him away from them.

Best case is we get a 7 which can turn into a 6 conditionally. Meh, at this point I dont really care what happens to him. I wouldnt be shocked if he never plays another down. What a turd. Guy got paid millions to ride the pine and now is gonna come out whining and demanding? Whatever dude, adios and good riddance.

i think the hearing will go towards miami because if we let daunte practice, and he got hurt even worse then we would have had to pay his salary for that year because he got hurt under their watch

Ill be happy when it's all setteled as much as anyone, but I hope our front office stays the course and gets all they can. This is a good indicator of how strong randy's stomach is. Im sure it would be much easier for him to release him, throw his hands up, and walk away with nothing.

I don't see what he's doing as being ungrateful, he's just trying to make the best situation for himself. I'm not crazy about how either side has handled this situation, but I can't blame Daunte for how he's reacted to the Dolphins' decisions.

We can't hold the money thing against him. How much money is enough for a guy to let a team pretty much decide his fate? A team that has recently shown to have little regard for him for that matter?

I'm sure that this will be taken as being anti-dolphins and/or pro-daunte. Trust me, I don't want the dolphins to get burned, but I want the right thing to happen. I don't know exactly how the rules read, so I don't claim to know what the 'right thing' is.

I'm not gonna Villianize Daunte for what happened here. Until he got dumped, he did nothing to intentionally hurt the dolphins. In his one year (not two) he did what was asked of him. He can't control our expectations.

Thats a reasonable enough postion to take. I like you dont know exactly how the rules break down either. I however think Daunte acted unprofessionally when he came out publically and told the rest of the NFL to hold tight on any trade offers because he would not negotiate until after he has been offically cut. Miami paid Minny the draft pick, plus if im not mistaken, gave him a raise.

I dont think DC should simply accept any offer made to him but he should at least be reasonable with the dolphins and listen to any offers made. Who is to say Jacksonville would not of already made us an offer if he had not made those statements. In a vauge way his actions can be interpted as tampering.

Daunte seems to be taking the organazations decissons as personal attacks, which from my perspective I dont see that as being the case. He is acting as though he is very offended that the Dolphins dont have the same confidence in his abilities as he does. He may be right and DC may return to probowl form again but dont take it as your being attacked personally because they dont agree with you. Look at brees, he did not cry about being cut or passed over, he went to his new team, with a big ole cloud over him, and proved all his critics wrong. Now they are all eating crow. Thats what DC should be focusing on.

I was a Daunte supporter as well. I was initially disappointed we didn't get Drew Brees, but at the time, I trusted Nick Saban and saw Daunte's highlight films that everyone has seen. But the more I saw of his decision making, both on and off the field, the more I became convinced that he is just an overrated prima donna.
