Before you sit down and watch this game, keep in mind for one, this is Pre-Season and second this team is learning a new Offensive scheme (Scot Linehan) a new Defensive scheme (Nick Saban) and have a new O line coach in Hudson Houck, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Speaking of Scot Linehan, in the Vikings Offense besides using multiple backs he also employed the TE quite often. I think this is why our leading receiver from this past Monday Night was Lorenzo Diamond. Id like to see Randy Mac in there more, although Diamond looks like he will beat out Lee, I think Mac could have broke some big ones.
-IM looking forward to seeing what our O line has learned from last week and how they will do VS the Jags and their very good D line. This is a good test for the team. I read that Mckinney will get the start at center and IM not a negative person, but this guy plain out sucks. Why not give Hadnot another shot there, who seems to have become the leader. Also, I work with a BEAGLES fan who claims the kid we picked up who can play center, is a pretty good player on a crowded O line. How long will it take him to get up to speed? Id like to see more of Henderson at guard.
-Gus Frerrote will get the nod at QB and I think once again we will see someone who is more comfortable with the scheme and can see the field better than Feeley. I was never a big Sage fan and want to see more of Berlin, besides the INT at the end of the game he looked good and also had a great day at camp the other day. It can't hurt to take a closer look.
-Ricky and Lamar is an area I will keep an eye out on. Ricky never really has great preseason games, but he did have his dancing shoes on and id like to see him break one. Lamar didn't get much blocking, but I would like to see him at least try and get to the corner tomorrow. Morris is always underrated and will be productive, Minor looked good and I would like to see Kay Jay get a few more opportunities, he really looked like Keith Byars to me after his 20 yard reception.
-The Secondary. They will get tested from Leftwhich who started to come into his own last season. I hope Daniels starts over Howard who is over paid and not as productive as we all had originally thought. This is another area IM sure all of us will have under a microscope. Yermiah Bell has finally been able to play and looked pretty good. This is an area of concern. If Saban is the coach we all think he is, we should at least see improvement here, if thats the case, id be thrilled. Wanny's teams were prone to making the same mistakes time and time again.
- WR is one of the teams strong points. Actually besides QB, our skill position players are very good. Boston was promising as was Gillmore. Id like to see Chambers, Booker and Boston start with Frerrote under center and take it from there. Wes Welker is our version of Cherbet from the JETS when he was much younger. I like Welker and hope to see him get a few more opportunities at WR.
- I read someones post where they say Crowder wasn't as fast as he thought he was. I can't disagree here more. He was all over the Field and made a nice play on the Goal line. What a NICE SURPRISE Donnie Spraghan was, he played much better than anyone expected. Thomas will be Thomas. IM Sure Pope will play well when in the game, but IM starting to think Eddie Moore was another Dumbstache disaster. He has not played up to his abilities.
-IM really looking forward to taking a look at Vonnie Holliday, who is rumored to be in good shape and raring to go. If I remember right, we had considered drafting him about 6 or 7 years ago but passed. He had a good stint with the Packers and a Good first year with the Chiefs, but had his share of downtime because of injuries. While he wasn't the "MAN" as the Cheifs had hoped, he will be a SWEEET compliment type player for us. Remember, he was double teamed in KC, and most likely wont' face this here in Miami with the talent we have here on the D LINE. I read he is starting tonight and am VERY CURIOUS to see what he can do. Big fast and strong, listed at 6'5 290 Lbs and Paws the size of a catchers mit. Eventually I want to see this, especially vs passing downs;
Roth Holliday Carter Taylor
Thats of course when we are in the 4-3.
Anyone know how Larry Chester is doing? Id LOVE to get him back in the mix to alternate with Traylor in the 3-4. And will look forward to a peek at our future with Vickerson and Wright side by side for some 4-3 formations.
Actually if Daniels turns out to be what we all think, when we get Poole back next season, we will have 2 nice young starting corners.
Just remember, it doesn't matter if some scrub comes off the Bench for the Jags in the 4th QTR and throws a TD pass and we lose 34-31. Its Preseason. I would much rather see improvement in the area's I listed vs a win in preseason.
GO FINS!!!!!!!
