Ok, so everyone has their favorite as far as draft prospects go. SO who do YOU choose as the number one overall pick and WHY do you think they are the right pick for this franchise?

I pick Jake Long because I believe that with a stud o-line prospect, not only will our running game flourish, but we will finally be able to see if we have something in John Beck. You cannot fully evaluate Beck after last season because he was on his a$$ every other play after getting bullrushed. I believe the Jake Long pick shores up for us to take the BPA with number 32. Think about it. 2 legit starters in the first two rounds?? Sounds like the BEST draft strategy for a team that needs all the help they can get.

I agree and I think people are over estimating the value of a OLB. Lots of people say it's Parcel's draft history but every time he took a defensive player he traded down to get them, that to me shows me he values picks the most and he can always get OLB's later.

Nobody else improves the players around him more than J.Long, it may not be instantly but he's the beginning of a new winning tradition. Nothing against C.Long or V.Gholston I think they may turn out decent but we don't need them now or later we need OLineman now and all these prospects are rated closely the same so it's an easy pick for me.

Jake Long will help improve our entire O-line for years to come. LT or RT.

You don't draft a RT with your 1st pick. Jake will do well in this Leauge as well as Chris. Both are leaders ect. I't all depends if BP wants to start rebuilding the defence 1st or to finish building the offense.

Lots of smoke rumors ect...... But it will be all said and done next Sat.

Taking a RT #1 overall is still more feasible than an OLB.

However, Jake Long is a LT it is until proven otherwise.

I used to be in favor of all three of these guys, however, after the past few months of reading scouting reports, watching highlights, etc. It's pretty clear that Jake Long is the best prospect in this draft.

Gholston is a gym freak yes, but the guy gets lazy on the field, can't have that, he only had 37 tackles last year, that's horrible for a DE. Gholston's stock right now is based solely on his combine performance, which doesn't tell you anything about what kind of football player he will be.

Chris Long has a non-stop motor, and looks to be a good football player but possibly lacks the physical tools to be an elite defender in the NFL.

Jake Long is physically gifted and has a good work ethic. He has a great track record in college only giving up two sacks and only committing two penalties. The guy finishes every play strong, and he fills a position that is more acceptable for the first overall pick, as well as our biggest need.

Picking anyone but Jake Long is simply foolish.

Jake Long will be the pick. We need someone to protect our QB, and open up holes for our running backs. We have already made some nice additions on defense, even though Zach is gone. I like Chris Long and Gholston, but we can only have get one guy and I think Jake is it.

I'm fine with either Long, but I think Jake Long is the team's biggest need. Jake would be a sound, and key addition to the "John Beck Protection Plan."

Vernon Carey at LT was not the reason we lost anything last year. He was great at run blocking, and gave up less sacks than even Joe Thomas and other pro bowlers. But yes we need help along the line at G and RT, both positions we should find later in the draft. Our biggest problem was stopping people, getting pressure on the QB and stopping the run. And as the Giants showed by shutting down the Patriots O the front 7 of the D can control games. Chris Long or Gholston would provide a quicker turn around than a RT which we can find later in the draft.

Chris Long is the best player in the draft. Building a team you build from the inside out starting with the line either D or O. Picking Jake Long or Chris Long will be good but I rate Chris Long higher.

picking C Long or Gholston first means either JT, JP or the #1 pick is going to have to sit on the bench. you can't start all 3. without a trade, picking OLB first doesn't make sense. you could make a case that ILB is a greater need than OLB. if stopping the run is the top priority, I would rather see Dorsey at #1. Jason and Joey have proven to be great pass rushers if used correctly.

Well, according to the interview with David Hyde on the front page he thinks we will trade JT and he wants off the team (who can blame him?). If that is true then Picking D with the 1st isnt that unreasonable.

Jake Long. Vernon Gholston is a close 2nd. Chris Long is out of the picture in my mind.

Jake Long provides immediate help on the offensive line where we have an immediate need for a LT or RT. There is the risk he won't play LT, but I don't think anyone doubts he can succed at RT. With him and Vernon Carey at the ends, I'm happy no matter who's where.

Vernon Gholston has great potential. But his motivation worries me. He is a greater talent than Jake Long, but Jake Long is the safer pick. Plus, no matter what anyone says, we still have two good OLBs on the roster. Address OLB when JT or JP retires, but not now. At OT, we need someone there NOW. It's been a while since we've had good tackles at both ends of the line, that should say something.

Chris Long. He's great in how he doesn't take plays off. He comes at you full-speed almost every down. That is great. But what he can become, I don't think is worth the #1 pick.

Well the answer just got more clear with word coming out that JT has changed directions and wants to be traded. With as deep as the OT class is and with as weak as we will get if we traded JT at LB, it will have to be vernon or chris.

i think that drafting a RT, for the long term is crazy but i think that we will play Jake at RT for a few Games if not the whole season, to get him up to place, btu once he knows the spped of the game he would move into the Lt postion, for a very long time, also resigning Carey would be a major priority
