BIO: Awarded the 2003 Rimington Trophy as the nation's top center and also named both an all-conference and All American lineman. Two-year starter at center who spent his sophomore campaign at right guard.
POSITIVES: Tough, durable blocker that controls the line of scrimmage. Smart and plays heads-up football. Effectively uses body positioning to wall defenders from the play. Has a bit of nastiness to his game, works to finish blocks and goes hard until the whistle blows. Explosive off the snap, plays with good pad level and efficient. Jolts defenders at the point, strong and opens holes in the middle of the field. Blocks with excellent balance and rarely off his feet. Effective with the shot gun snap and has done some long-snapping in the past.
NEGATIVES: Not light on his feet or effective on the second level. A bit stiff and though he can slide laterally, not a lineman with great blocking range.
ANALYSIS: As tough as they come, Grove is a competitive blocker with the ability to play several positions up front. Combining strength, intelligence and high personal character, Grove is not a flashy prospect but gets the job done and should quickly move into a starting role at the next level.
