K.C. Joyner of ESPN recently reported a major improvement from that of Satele.

He noted that Dolphins C Jake Grove had a 90.6 win percentage at the point of attack on running plays last season.

The stat measures whether the opposing defender stuffs the hole or makes contact with the runner. Grove's rate, a significant improvement over Samson Satele's 79.5 percent, should help open holes for Ronnie Brown this season.

Just another reason the FO went after this guy, instead of keeping Satele. Hopefully he can stay healthy the entire season as he will be a key piece in our running game.

'90.6 win percentage' and 'Raiders' aren't usually found in the same sentence.

I think we all believe that Grove is an enormous upgrade.

But, his injury history is a major downside. Lets hope our offseason conditioning improves this. Other wise, we may be ordering up a Joe Berger

I would rather have Berger than Satale, so even if we lose Grove for a few games we are still better off than we were last year.

I think the biggest keys to the season is keeping our three interior lineman heathly. Thomas, Grove and Smiley all three have injury issues. I just hope the offseason program can work it's magic. I kinda have my doubts however.

Jake Grove had the highest percentage of one-on-one blocks, so he achieved the best win percentage of any center with less help from the guards than any other center in the league. The injury history is the only reason Jake Grove in not considered one of the top 3 centers in the league. I have been vocal on this board that I believe his injury history is overstated. He did not miss a single game his first three years due to injury. It has only been the last two. If he makes it through this season without being injured, I believe we win the division. Yes, I really believe he is a dominant offensive lineman.

Well if Thomas can stay healthy and Smiley wont get stepped on and Grove stays healthy then we can and most likely will have a top 5 running attack IMO

To put this in perspective, it means that the average defensive lineman that Grove faced was slightly more successful than Phil Merling.

I like Merling and there are a lot of folks here that like him too, for good reason, so it's good to keep these things in perspective. Grove had a really good win percentage and it's probably why he's here, but if you think the win percentage means he dominated most everyone he faced then it's hard to escape thinking that Phil Merling was nowhere near good enough in 2008. I think what it means is that Grove was pretty good, but not the best Center in the league or anything like that, and Merling was ok but needs work.

Interesting way to look at it CK.
Great job of putting things into a new perspective.
